One Blackjack Overview
Blackjack is possibly the most popular game you can find in a live casino. It’s been around a long time. One Blackjack is a more recent variation, launched by Pragmatic Play in 2021, and it actually combines elements from other forms of the game. The basic goal is still the same, though: getting as close to 21 as possible.
Thanks to the setup of One Blackjack and the technology that powers it, there’s basically room for countless players at the same time, but the one player seat means that it’s just you, the Pragmatic Play live dealer and the table between you, delivered in a colour scheme of purple and gold.
How to Play One Blackjack
Betting in One Blackjack is about more than the basic wager. There are also four side bets to choose between: Perfect Pairs, 21+3, Bust Bonus and Crazy 7.
You have 12 seconds at the start of the round to make your bets, starting at the 1 minimum. Game statistics are available as a partial guide, but remember, there’s an element of randomness in all gambling. You can’t guarantee any results.
Dealing the Cards
The dealer draws four cards: two that they’ll give to the player and two that they’ll keep for themselves. Player cards are placed in a container rather than directly on the table, so only the player can see the scanned images and will therefore have more freedom in their decision-making. One hand is left face-down.
Double Down, Hit, Stand, Split
These are the choices that every player has to make for themselves:
- You can only double down (take one more card whilst increasing your initial bet by 100%) on the first two cards, and you can never double down on a split.
- Hit is when you just take one more card; stand is when you don’t take any.
- Splits are for when you have a pair and divide them into two hands by taking one more card to go with each. Only one extra card comes from splitting an ace.
Insurance
Insurance is another kind of side bet - one that only becomes available if the dealer shows an ace. It’s a wager on the dealer having reached 21, or in other words having a blackjack and therefore beating the player.
If you can’t win outright, you may be able to salvage something from the loss, but again, it’s your choice and there are no guarantees. It’s pretty rare for the dealer to have a blackjack.
How to Win
The basic premise of One Blackjack is the same as regular blackjack. You want the total of your hand to be closer to 21 than the dealer. If you go over 21, then you lose. The dealer has to draw to a minimum of 16 and will stand if they reach 17. Sic card Charlie means you automatically win if you have at least six cards in your hand but still haven’t gone bust.

Don’t forget options like timeout or self-exclusion, which may be available through your casino to help you if you feel your gambling is becoming out of control. Knowing when to stop is one of the most important parts of playing One Blackjack or any other table game. Be strict about your limits.
Special Features
One Blackjack from Pragmatic Play features a number of special features:
Sic Card Charlie
Be automatically declared the winner of the round if you haven’t gone bust and have six or more cards in your hand.
Auto-stand
Add a limit to your game where you automatically stand, rather than hit, when you reach a certain number. Most players pick 17.

Betting Options
Perfect Pairs
A wager on whether you’ll be dealt a pair in your first hand. Payouts vary depending on whether the pair is mixed, coloured or perfect. The RTP is 95.9%.
21+3
This is when you try to create a poker hand out of the first three cards visible (two of yours and one of the dealer’s). Payouts depend on the poker hand, for instance: three-of-a-kind, straight or flush. The RTP is 96.3%.
Bust Bonus
If the dealer goes bust, the bust bonus will ensure you receive an extra payout. The size of the payout grows when the dealer has more cards in their hand. The RTP is 93.82%.
Crazy 7
Wager on a 7 being one of the cards in the first draw. Not only will you be paid for one 7, but if there’s more than one 7, the payout will increase. The biggest payout in the entire game comes from drawing three 7s with a Crazy 7 bet. The RTP is 94.26%.

Optimal Strategy
You may not be able to guarantee yourself a win in One Blackjack, or any other game of chance, but there are strategies you can employ to minimise your risk and help guide your choices.
One Blackjack is close enough to regular blackjack that you can mostly use the standard strategies, which include recommended decisions for every possible draw of the cards.
For hard totals (without an ace):
- Stand if you have 17 or above, regardless of the dealer’s visible card.
- Stand if you have 13 or above and the dealer’s visible card is 6 or below.
- Stand if you have a 12 and the dealer’s visible card is 4, 5 or 6.
- Hit if you have between 13 and 16 and the dealer’s visible card is 7 or above.
- Hit if you have 12 and dealer’s visible card is anything but 4, 5 or 6.
- Hit if you have between 5 and 9.
It’s a total of 10 or 11 where it’s hardest to decide whether to stand or hit. The odds are slightly in favour of hit, but not by much.
If your total includes an ace, then stand if it’s paired with a 9 or 8, as well as with a 7 if the dealer’s visible card is a 7 or 8. Otherwise, hit.
For pairs, stand if you have two 10s, hit for two 5s or two 4s (unless the dealer has a 5 or 6, in which case split). Split 9s unless the dealer has a 7, 10 or ace, in which case stand. Generally, hit when the dealer’s cards are higher and split when they’re lower.

One Blackjack FAQs
What is the one player seat?
It’s the view of the game, with you and the dealer facing each other directly and no other players in sight. It makes the game feel more intimate and individual, even if thousands of other people are playing at the same time. You can focus on all the most important things.
How does Blackjack insurance work?
It’s a way to try and salvage something from a losing hand. If the dealer is closer to 21 than you, you can make a side bet on their having a full blackjack. They probably won’t, but if you get lucky then at least you’ll receive a bit of a payout. It’s only available as an option when the dealer has a visible ace.
What is the top prize available?
The highest prize in One Blackjack comes from the Crazy 7 side bet. This is when you bet on one or more 7s appearing in the first draw. The more 7s there are then the higher the rewards, with an unlikely three 7s taking the total win all the way up to x2000.
What is the RTP for the base game?
Different RTPs are available in One Blackjack if you choose to wager one of the side bets, but for the base game on its own the RTP is 99.29%.
Are there any side bets?
Four different side bets are available in One Blackjack, not counting insurance. They are: Perfect Pairs, when you bet on a matching pair landing in the first hand; 21+3, which is about trying to create a poker hand with your cards; bust bonus, to try and score a payout from the dealer going bust; or the previously mentioned Crazy 7s on one or more 7s being dealt.
