Rabbit Hole Riches is a new video slot from Play’n Go built around a 3X3 format. The slot can be played from as little as 0.10 and as much as 100 credits per spin and has five fixed paylines. Rabbit Hole Riches has an RTP of 96.23% and is classed as low in volatility. Features include a Rabbit Reward, Teacup Party Pick, Tower Power and Queen’s Army Free Spins bonus.
Over the past decade we’ve seen a huge number of video slots inspired by Lewis Carrol’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland theme, and many game developers have chosen the theme as it appears to be a popular choice with players. Now, Play’n Go are entering the mix with Rabbit Hole Riches - and while it’s a little bit different to some of their most recent releases (most of which are on the high variance side of things) the game does offer some semi-decent win-potential, and it’s quite fun to play, too.
Format and RTP
Rabbit Hole Riches is built around a 3-reel, 3-row format, so it’s back to basics here. There are only five paylines and these are fixed in place, so there’s no option to adjust the number of paylines played. Rabbit Hole Riches can be played from as little as 0.10 credits per spin and as much as 100, and the RTP ships at 96.23%. However, as with all Play’n Go slots, Rabbit Hole Riches comes in a number of different RTP settings, so this is something to be aware of. It’s also a low volatility slot.
Despite the old-school and somewhat “basic” theme, Play’n Go has done a pretty decent job with Rabbit Hole Riches and it certainly looks the part. The reels are set on a rich red backdrop, and you’ll see HD, crisp graphics from the moment you first load up the game. In this Rabbit Hole Riches review we’re going to be taking an in-depth look at what the game offers, and we’ll kick things off with a look at the symbols and payouts.
Rabbit Hole Riches’ Symbols And Payouts
As you’d probably expect from a 3X3 slot, Rabbit Hole Riches doesn’t offer a massive number of symbols. Like most video slots, the symbols are separated into two groups; you’ve got the lower-paying symbols and the higher-paying symbols. All of the lower-paying symbols are playing card suits, so you’ll see Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs and Spades.
The game’s higher-paying symbols include Magic Trees, Caterpillars, Mad Hatters and Red Queens. The higher-paying symbols don’t pay a whole lot, with the highest-paying symbol - the Red Queen - paying just 8X your stake for a 3-of-a-kind combo. You’ll also notice a wild symbol on the reels, and this substitutes for all other symbols in Rabbit Hole Riches. The wild also has its own paytable, and if you land a 3-of-a-kind combo of it you’ll be awarded a payout worth 20X your stake.
Rabbit Hole Riches Bonus Features
Despite Rabbit Hole Riches being built around a 3X3 format, Play’n Go have managed to cram quite a few bonuses and features into the slot, and there are five in total (although only four of these are really bonus rounds.)
First up, you’ve got the Rabbit Hole Bonus. This is triggered by landing three of the pocket watch overlay symbols anywhere in view; this will then trigger one of the four main features shown below. (You can also trigger the main bonus round thanks to the Rabbit Reward feature which is randomly activated on some non-winning spins. When it triggers, the third scatter symbol needed may appear randomly on the remaining reel.)
Pick a Prize
The first of the four main bonuses is the Teacup Party Pick bonus round. You will be awarded, initially, one free spin, and during this spin all the lower-paying symbols are removed from the reels. Once this spin is complete, you’ll be tasked with picking one of the teacups below the reels; you will then reveal one of the higher-paying symbols, and this symbol will then pay out a random cash value worth up to 8X your stake. You then get to continue or collect.
The second bonus is the Cheshire Cat Re-spin feature, and this begins with a single re-spin, during which a giant 1X3 wild symbol is added to the reels. The first spin is a guaranteed win spin, and you continue to get re-spins for as long as you form wins.
Free Spins with Stacked Wilds
The third bonus round is the Tower Power bonus, and here, you’ll be awarded with 7 free-spins. You will then notice that the Red and White Tower wilds become active; this means that both wilds become stacked, and cover entire reels. Before the free spins round begin you need to pick which of the wilds you want, and each time your chosen wild lands in view you’ll score a point. Once the bonus round is over, if your chosen tower scored more than the other, the total winnings from the free-spins are doubled. If it’s a draw, you’re awarded a further 7 free-spins.
Free Spins with Increasing Multipliers
The fourth and final bonus round is the Queen’s Army free-spins, and this is, by far, the best of the bonuses on offer. During this bonus round the Queen Wild symbol comes into play, and the only other symbols in view are the lower-paying Queen Army tiles. Each win sees a multiplier increase by 1X (assuming you make a win on an active payline), and if you land three scatter symbols anywhere in view you’ll be awarded more free-spins. There’s no limit to the number of spins - or the size of the multiplier - that can be reached during this bonus.
Our Verdict Of Rabbit Hole Riches
While we feel it’s safe to say that Rabbit Hole Riches won’t be for everyone, we can’t deny that Play’n Go have done a pretty decent job, and the slot looks fantastic. With so many Alice in Wonderland themed video slots on the market today, it’s important that any new ones have a degree of originality to them - and Rabbit Hole Riches fits the bill to a tee. The graphics are superb, and we like how the software provider has presented the game as it’s not too intense on the theme but still shows enough to immerse players.
Unfortunately, the slot is let down slightly by its bonuses and features. While there’s quite a few to trigger none of them are overly exciting, and due to the low variance nature of the slot it’s pretty common for these bonuses to end up paying relatively small amounts of money. Still, on the whole, Rabbit Hole Riches is a decent effort from Play’n Go and if you’re looking for something a little more laid-back it could be worth a play!
