Game Theme & Storyline

The reels are found in a Mexican desert, with cacti, sand and blue skies in the background. Within the reels are a variety of Mexico-themed symbols including an eagle, armadillo and opossum, along with two characters - a male and female - and a classic car. The reels have a sand-coloured background and are outlined in brown. Whilst the graphics transport you to the wonderful country of Mexico, the clunky, dated sound effects are better switched off!

How to Play Route of Mexico

1. You can make a wager by clicking one of the Total Wager options along the bottom of the screen (20, 40, 100, 200 or 400).

2. Clicking one of these buttons will automatically spin the reels, too.

3. To the left of the Wager buttons is an autospin button. Clicking on this will immediately set the buttons to automated spinning, which will continue until you hit it again to stop the feature.

4. To the left of the screen, there are also the options to change the game to big screen mode, view the paytable and turn the sounds on or off.

Route of Mexico Bonus Features & Free Spins

Wild symbol

The Wild symbol will only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. It can substitute for all other symbols apart from the Scatter and Extra Spin symbols. It will appear in the Free Spins feature in an expanded Stacked form.

Free Spins

The Free Spins feature can be triggered by the appearance of three Scatters in the base game. Players will be awarded three Free Spins. During the feature, at least one Stacked Wild is guaranteed. The first Stacked Wild will appear on reel two and remains in play until the end of the feature. More spins may be granted each time an Extra Spin symbol appears on reel one. During the free spins feature, the high-ranking male character may also stack.

Gamble

Any win below 700 credits may be Gambled. Hit the Gamble button to activate the feature that offers a double-or-nothing-style outcome. Choose Red or Black and see what the cards have in store for you.

Jackpot Cards

Jackpot Cards is the game’s mystery jackpot feature. This is a four-level jackpot, which is ranked as followed:

Clubs = Level 1

Diamonds = Level 2

Hearts = Level 3

Spades = Level 4

At any time, you can refer to the current jackpot amount for each level by looking to the top of the reels. The bonus feature randomly triggers after any base game spin. When it does, a new screen containing 12 turned-down cards appears where the reels were. Players keep picking cards until three matching suits are revealed. The corresponding jackpot amount is then awarded.
