Graphics & Soundtrack

The game is called Sparkling Hot, but the only hint of sparkle occurs when symbols feature in a winning spin. It’s hardly world-class animations, but it does the job well enough, and it will certainly please traditionalists. There’s no soundtrack as such, but you can expect to encounter all the usual generic noises that you’d get if you were playing a traditional slots game in a bricks-and-mortar casino.

Although we know that Sparkling Hot is a medium-volatility game, Altea haven’t publicised the RTP details as yet. So it could be risky playing the game with real money at an online casino. How to Play Sparkling Hot

Sparkling Hot is a very basic online slots game with very basic controls to match. So even if you don’t have much previous experience with slots games, you’ll be up and running in next to no time.

1 Altea Gaming often let players decide how many, or how few, paylines to include with each spin. But in this game they’ve fixed the number at five. So all you have to do is decide how much to wager on each spin, using the controls just below the reels.

2 Now tap on the Spin button to play out one game at your chosen stake. If you land a win the relevant symbols will be highlighted and you’ll be invited to Gamble your win or Collect it.

3 Play multiple spins at a constant stake with the help of Autoplay, You can set the game to deliver up to 100 automatic spins leaving you free to watch the on-screen action. If you like the extra Gamble option you’ll need to hover your finger though, as you only get a second to choose it during Autoplay.

Bet Sizes & Paytable Wins

The wagering options for Sparkling Hot are clearly laid out, giving you options to play from 0.20 to 5.00 per spin. You’ll need to match up three, four or five symbols on a payline to win a cash prize, with two exceptions. The cherries pay out for landing just two matches from left to right across a payline. And the Scatter pays out for landing symbols in any position on the reels - unlike all other icons in the game the Scatters don’t have to conform to payline rules. Wins are shown on the paytable as multiples of your stake.

Lemons = 2x, 10x, 30x

Cherries = 1x, 2x, 10x, 20x

Plums = 5x, 15x, 50x

Oranges = 5x, 15x, 40x

Sparkling Hot Bonus Features

There’s no Wild in Sparkling Hot, so you won’t get any extra help when it comes to spinning up winning combinations. There is a Scatter symbol though, which takes the form of a blue star set against a yellow background. In many online slots games three or more Scatters would introduce a Free Spins bonus round or other special feature. There’s nothing like that in Sparkling Hot, but three or more Scatters anywhere on the reels will award a cash payout.

There are no multipliers as such in the game, but if you manage to fill the entire playing grid with just lemons, or oranges, or cherries, or plums then the win is doubled.

There’s an optional Gamble game for anyone who wants the chance to double up on wins. But if you incorrectly guess the colour of a playing card you’ll forfeit that win, so you need to be very sure of yourself - and your bankroll - to participate.

Overall Review

Altea Gaming seem to specialise in no-frills gaming for the slots purists. Their games are highly reminiscent of Ainsworth slots, with simple graphics and basic bonus features. But sadly in the case of Sparkling Hot any bonus features are thin on the ground. The Gamble option will appeal to thrill seekers, but with such low wagering options we’re not sure how many of those will be drawn to the game in the first place.

For our money we’d rather be playing the Hot Chance slot from Novomatic. It takes a similar approach to the theme, but manages to ramp up the excitement with a couple of extra bonus features. And that’s something we found sadly lacking in Sparkling Hot.
