Introduction

Pandaria is a game that has clearly been influenced by the hugely successful Kung Fu Panda film franchise as well as the figures from Chinese mythology that inspired those films. It comes from the competent team at Dragoon Soft, one of Asia’s up-and-coming game developers who are building a nice portfolio of free play slots. It’s nice to see a Chinese theme - so often used in online games - rendered by people with closer connections to its traditions, in contrast to a game like Ainsworth’s Panda King slot. Theme, graphics and soundtrack

Visually, Pandaria is an impressive piece of work. The base game is played against a shadowy bamboo grove with unobtrusive but very effective details like gently falling leaves. It’s a nice touch when the wild symbol extends because it is a short clump of bamboo which suddenly shoots up, in parody of the speed with which bamboo grows in reality. How to play Pandaria

1. Click the red Spin button to start playing using the current total bet value. This button turns into a stop symbol, which you can press to stop the reels mid-spin.
2. Select the main menu and settings to activate the space bar as an alternative to the spin button
3. Select the Coins symbol to select a bet level from 0.01 to 30, which will be multiplied by the 25 lines. Alternatively, use the + and - buttons to change the bet level.
4. In the Auto spin settings, you may select spins from 100 to infinity. 
5. Click the main menu on the bottom left and click the settings cog to bring up various visual and speed of play settings. Here you have the option to set the autoplay game to stop on a win at a specified minimum level and also set maximum balance increase levels and balance decrease levels.
6. The running balance is displayed at the bottom left of the screen.

Wilds

Wild symbols appear only on reels 2, 3 and 4. Wilds substitute for all symbols except for the Free Game. If you land a winning pay line, the wild extends across the reel. A wild will multiply wins by 2.

Free Game

The free game symbol appears on any reel. If you land 3 free game symbols anywhere on the reels, this will trigger free games. Pays are both left to right and right to left. Wins pay out the total bet times the following odds:

5 = 200
4 = 20
3 = 2

Landing 3 free game symbols anywhere on the reels will win you the matching free game. 3 symbols will win 8 new free games, 4 symbols will win 12 new free games, and 5 will win 20 new free games. Free games can be collected up to a limit of 150.

Pandaria review: Our verdict

In terms of the game play and the extra features, Pandaria is nothing special. Its extra features are limited, and although we are treated to a stunning new setting for the free spins round, this doesn’t really compensate for the lack of a bonus game. However, it has a very generous potential payout and the graphics are excellent.
