Taking a look at the portfolio of Red Tiger Gaming, you'll instantly notice that this developer, which was founded in 2014 by self-confessed veterans from the gaming industry across Europe and Asia, have a recurring theme in the games that they produce. Featuring everything from Chinese Treasures and Dragons Luck to the Golden Lotus, they definitely enjoy producing oriental- and Far Eastern-themed games, and Three Kingdoms is certainly no different!
Familiar theme
As anyone familiar with the online gaming industry will know, slots centred around Far Eastern themes are very popular and so can run the risk of feeling a little overdone when yet another dragon or lotus game pops up. Thankfully, Red Tiger Gaming have put a lot of thought into their designs, and as a result their attractive slot games are capable of rising above the clichés.
Three Kingdoms in particular offers a more immersive style of gameplay with an adjustable interface and features, and the overall design of this game is very visually appealing. As a result, Three Kingdoms is much more enjoyable than many of its predecessors in the online slots game world.
Backstory
Three Kingdoms is set in Ancient China and is based on the real-life conflict between three ancient kingdoms: this period was one of the bloodiest in Ancient Chinese history. The three states or kingdoms are represented in the game by three warriors: Cao Cao, Sun Quan and Liu Bei; all of whom were real dynasty warriors.
How to play
To start playing Three Kingdoms, you'll first be asked to choose your side. Choose from one of the three kingdoms to pick which warrior will act as a wild symbol (don't worry, you can change your kingdom at any time via the interface) and you'll then be shown to the reels.
There are 5 reels in Three Kingdoms and 20 paylines. Whilst the number of paylines is fixed in this game, meaning that there is a certain number of ways that you can win, the reels pay for any adjacent symbols on the paylines, meaning that the win doesn't always have to start on the first reel. This leads to more opportunities to seize the payout. Bets can be anything from £0.20 to a max bet of a whopping £500 per spin.
Symbols
The symbols in Three Kingdoms are all the dynasty warriors, and various coloured jewels also appear across the reels. It's certainly nice to have a change from the standard card deck symbols as the lower-paying symbols. Depending on your earlier choice when the game commenced, your wild symbol will be one of the three warriors.
The reels in Three Kingdoms can transform at any time into a 'mega tile' for extra wins. It is true that there aren’t many other bonuses in Three Kingdoms but you certainly shouldn't let that put you off giving this enticing game a try! In fact, you can try Three Kingdoms for free today on your desktop, mobile and tablet devices, simply by visiting Slots Temple.
