The Megaways feature (created by the clever people at Big Time Gaming) is taking the online slots market by storm. Since there are over 40 games in the series now, from a host of different developers, we thought it would be fun to provide our ranking of every Megaways title. So, after very careful consideration we've made a list (best at the top) which ranks the games... These things are completely subjective, you may disagree, we just hope you enjoy reading it!
We’ll be keeping this list updated with every new release. So, check back often to find out where the latest Megaways slots land in the list!
Extra Chilli
Extra Chilli is considered the sequel to the hit slot Bonanza, and it’s arguably the most popular Megaways in the entire series. Players enjoy most of the same features as they do in Bonanza, but the bonuses are likely to come around more often – thanks to Big Time Gaming replacing the GOLD free spins trigger with simply requiring players to land three scatters.
Another plus is the Feature Drop, which allows players to purchase direct entry into the free spins round (at half the cost of the Feature Drop in White Rabbit), and the Feature Gamble where players can spin a prize wheel for the chance to win additional free spins.
White Rabbit
This Big Time Gaming game goes above and beyond the winning potential of other Megaways slots. Whereas most of the games in the series offer a maximum 117,649 winning ways, White Rabbit allows players to trigger up to 248,832 ways to win during the free spins round. Its Feature Drop bonus is quite expensive, but the expanding reels in the free spins game make for incredibly generous gameplay that could net you some huge wins.
Vikings Unleashed Megaways
Vikings Unleashed (Blueprint) is a popular slot, thanks to its adventuresome theme and fun bonus features. Players can trigger the free spins bonus by landing four scatters or hitting the Feature Buy button – and, there’s the opportunity to gamble your bonus game for up to 27 free spins with a starting multiplier of 10x.
As you land more scatters and more wins, there is the potential for you to trigger unlimited increasing multipliers and free spins which is definitely a selling point for this slot. It’s not uncommon for the free spins bonus to go on for quite a white.
Genie Jackpots Megaways
Genie Jackpots Megaways (Blueprint) is one of the few Megaways slots to offer less than a maximum of 117,649 winning ways. There are just 15,625 ways to win in this game, which might seem like a disappointment – but, the slot more than makes up for the lack of winning ways by equipping the game with plenty of bonuses. There are four base game multipliers, such as extra wilds and guaranteed wins, along with free spins bonuses like mystery symbols and re-spins. This slot has more bonus features than any other Megaways slot, which has earned this game a top spot on our list.
Bonanza
While Dragon Born was the first-ever Megaways slot, Bonanza was the Big Time Gaming game that put the Megaways series on the map. This online slot really set the bar for every other game in the series with a maximum of 117,649 winning ways, cascading reels and increasing multipliers. There isn’t much else to it, but this game deserves a top spot on the list, due to it being the game that really defined the brand.
Rainbow Riches
There are so many iterations of Rainbow Riches (Barcrest / SG Gaming), we were starting to get impatient waiting for the Megaways version of this game. In Rainbow Riches Megaways, you’re treated to the same kitschy theme and graphics as all of the other games in the beloved Rainbow Riches series and there is the same maximum 117,649 winning ways as there is in most other Megaways games.
The Super Gem bonus is a big selling point, acting as a type of Mystery Symbol feature, and unlimited multipliers can be earned during the free spins round. What really makes this game a hit, however, is how easy it is to retrigger the free spins round, as you only need to land a single +1, +2 or +3 symbol to earn more free spins.
Another thing that players enjoy about this game is the Bonus Buy. There is more than one option available, so players with limited budgets can buy directly into the free spins round for a cost of 25x, 50x or 75x their stake.
Lightning Strike Megaways
Lightning Strike Megaways (Blueprint) offers players up to 15,625 winning ways and features the Gamble Ladder. When you trigger the free spins round, you can spin the gamble wheel for the chance to land more free spins or increase your bonus prize. There are also expanding wild multipliers in this slot, which can trigger re-spins. There’s lots going on in this game to keep you entertained.
Who Wants to be a Millionaire Megaways
As the only branded game in the Megaways series, this online slot provides plenty of entertainment. Who Wants to be a Millionaire Megaways (Big Time Gaming) would just be another standard Megaways game, but the Hot Seat feature makes things interesting. It plays out just like the gameshow, as you climb the board to land up to 50 free spins – and, you can even use lifelines to increase your odds of landing bigger bonuses.
Temple of Treasures Megaways
Temple of Treasures Megaways is a beautifully-designed online slot from Blueprint Gaming, and could be one of the best-looking games in the series with impressive graphics and a keen attention to detail. Players are offered four different free spins bonuses, so players can essentially select their own volatility. Each option has a minimum number of Megaways (between 324 and 10,000), and unlimited win multipliers are available.
Buffalo Rising Megaways
Buffalo Rising provides players with an exciting online gaming experience, featuring dynamic graphics and a fun theme. A maximum 117,649 winning ways are available with cascading wins and increasing multipliers. During the bonus, players can pick from one of four options – between 5 and 15 free spins with starting multipliers of x1 to 10x. There is also the Buffalo Bet which offers direct entry into the bonus but at a cost of 100x, it is a bit on the expensive side.
Return of Kong Megaways
Return of Kong Megaways (Blueprint) is a sort-of sequel to King Kong Cash. The game offers up an incredibly generous top prize worth 50,000x your stake, and the free spins round doesn’t just feature increasing multipliers. You can also land golden monkeys, which increase the number of guaranteed Megaways, and golden barrels, which act as mystery symbols. Both of these features help to make the free spins round a bit more entertaining than in your average Megaways slot.
Valletta Megaways
Valletta Megaways (Blueprint) is an impressive slot with a high production value, and some great bonus features. Extra scatters and extra wilds can be added to the reels during the base game, and the Valletta Streak feature triggers re-spins – and, this is all in addition to a free spins round.
Machina Megaways
Machina is one of the few Megaways slots from Kalamba Games, and it has really left us wanting more from this developer. It has a very unique look, taking on a futuristic theme that we don’t often see in Megaways games.
There’s only a maximum of 46,656 winning ways, but that doesn’t make Machine Megaways any less interesting than other slots in the series. There are three generous jackpots available; even though they aren’t progressive, they offer up big wins. Another fun feature comes during the free spins round, where you can turn human symbols into high-paying cyborgs for impressive payouts.
Flower Fortunes Megaways
This is a Megaways slot from Fantasma that offers players prizes worth over 18,000 their stake. It’s got a weird alien flower theme that really sets it apart from other Megaways slots, along with five levels of gameplay – each triggering different bonuses, including re-spins, expanding wilds and cascading reels. The multi-level gameplay really keeps things interesting and makes for a very fun gaming experience.
Mystery Reels Megaways
Mystery Reels was already a popular online slot from Red Tiger Gaming, and the Megaways mechanic has only made it more exciting. This time around, the top prize has been doubled from 5000x to 10,000x your stake, and there are cascading reels and increasing multipliers to enhance your winning potential. The Gamble Feature is also a nice addition, which allows you to play for more free spins.
Fishin Frenzy Megaways
The original Fishin’ Frenzy was a huge hit, so you have to wonder just what the Megaways mechanic could do to improve on it – and, the answer is “not much”. Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways is very similar to the original, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s basically the same as the first game but with more potential winning ways (15,625 to be exact). As a remake, it would be nice if the graphics were a bit more enhanced but there’s no need to mess with the original too much.
Gods of Olympus Megaways
Gods of Olympus Megaways features gorgeous graphics and offers players a high volatility gaming experience with 15,625 winning ways. It’s a little bit like The Goonies, with five base game modifiers that offer up multiplier wilds, colossal reels, re-spins and mystery symbols, so there’s plenty of excitement in store as you spin the reels on this slot. It’s one of the more recent Megaways slots from Blueprint Gaming, so we can see how the developer has mixed things up a little bit so that it wasn’t simply releasing more of the game with each new game.
Medallion Megaways
When Fantasma gets its hands on Megaways slots, the developer always creates beautiful games. Like Flower Fortunes, Medallion Megaways is a stunning game with an inventive theme. There’s also some great gameplay at work here, with the usual Megaways mechanics, as well as medallion modifiers that can trigger expanding wild multipliers and re-spins where non-winning symbols are removed.
Legacy of Ra Megaways
If you’re a fan of Novomatic’s Book of Ra online slot, then this is the perfect Megaways slot for you. It uses the expanding mystery symbol during the free spins bonus, which can make for exciting gameplay. There isn’t much else to this slot, but what more do you need?
Holy Diver Megaways
Holy Diver (Big Time Gaming) is another Megaways slot game with a twist, using the new Reel Adventure mechanic. There a little knight going on a walk underneath the reels and, every so often, he’ll encounter a chest with one of four modifiers such as wild reels and multiplier wilds. There is also the Shields of Fortune bonus which offers up even more ways to win, along with a free spins round that allows you to trigger up to 586,000 winning ways.
So, if you’re tired of seeing similar Megaways slots over and over, this game does break the mould and brings you something new.
Kingmaker
There are some interesting mechanics at play in Kingmaker from Big Time Gaming. Gem multipliers can be collected during the base game to increase wins on certain symbols, and then they are carried over to the free spins round. So, you don’t want to actually trigger the bonus too soon, so you can accumulate more multipliers in the base game.
Raging Rhino Megaways
Raging Rhino is one of the few Megaways slots from WMS. It features classic Megaways gameplay like you’ll find in games like Bonanza, with cascading reels and increasing multipliers – but, there’s also the Raging Rhino Multiplier, which helps you earn impressive wins up to 10,000x your stake.
Bar X Safecracker Megaways
This online slot doesn’t really reinvent the wheel, but it’s still a fun slot. It’s unusual for a Megaways slot to be medium volatility rather than high volatility, so it should appeal more to players with limited budgets. The mystery symbols feature can be very generous, along with the free spins bonus that offers up unlimited increasing multipliers.
Medusa Megaways
Medusa is one of NextGen’s most popular slots, and the Megaways version only expands on the merits of the original. In Medusa Megaways, there are all sorts of fun bonus features to keep you entertained with expanding wilds, transforming symbols, feature gamble, free spins and unlimited increasing multipliers.
Tiki Treasures Megaways
Tiki Treasures Megaways has a vibrant theme and great graphics. It has fairly basic Megaways gameplay with cascading wins and increasing multipliers – but, there are progressive jackpots in this game, which really ramp up the excitement as you spin the reels.
Wolf Legend Megaways
There really isn’t much setting Wolf Legend Megaways apart from Buffalo Rising Megaways, aside from the Golden Streak feature which allows you to earn additional free spins. It’s a re-spin bonus that’s a little bit complicated to understand, but all you really need to know is that you can earn more free spins and gamble them if you’d like to win even more.
Primal Megaways
There are only 46,656 winning ways in Primal Megaways, but that doesn’t mean it’s not as fun as other slots in the series. It’s known for paying out mammoth wins, thanks to its mystery symbols and the generous multiplier wilds that you can trigger during the free spins round. If you’re looking for big wins, this is a great game to try as there is very impressive winning potential here with a whopping 50,000x top prize.
LeoVegas Megaways
LeoVegas Megaways is a bright and vibrant online slot that really captures the glitz and glamour of playing games at its namesake. The game sticks to the standard Megaways formula pretty closely, but there are two prize wheels that makes things very interesting. One of the prize wheels will provides you with up to 10 free spins and a guaranteed number of Megaways and the other is triggered using the Bonus Bet, and determines your starting multipliers. There are also mystery symbols to help improve your winning potential.
Safari Gold Megaways
If you want to play LeoVegas Megaways but aren’t a member of LeoVegas Casino, then you can have the same experience playing this game. So, if we could give this game the same ranking as LeoVegas Megaways, we would. They really are the same game – but with different skins.
Mystery Spin Deluxe Megaways
Mystery Spin Deluxe is a typical Megaways game, awarding players up to 117,649 winning ways with each spin of the reels. The main element that sets this game apart are the Synced Reels. However, this features doesn’t do much to enhance your overall winning potential, even though there is a generous 10,000x top prize available.
Diamond Mine Megaways
With a theme that’s quite similar to Bonanza, Diamond Mine Megaways doesn’t really bring players anything new or interesting that they haven’t seen before. It features cascading wins, free spins, mystery symbols and increasing multipliers, and that’s about it. We’d recommend Mystery Reels Megaways, Bar X Safecracker or Temple or Temple of Treasures Megaways, as they feature similar gameplay with more distinctive themes.
Monsters of Rock Megaways
Developed by Storm Gaming, Monsters of Rock Megaways will naturally be compared to Magic Merlin Megaways. In relation to its predecessor, it’s got a lot more going on with a Pick Me bonus game, a High Voltage feature that removes all low-paying symbols, mystery symbols and free spins. It’s a lot of fun, but it only has a top prize of 2500x – which definitely pales in comparison to other Megaways slots.
Dragon Born
This was the first-ever Megaways game created by Big Time Gaming. While it is a fun game and it brought us the ground-breaking Megaways mechanic, you really can see how far we’ve come. The game features wild reels and multiplier wilds, and a major selling point is that you can initially trigger 50 free spins with six scatters – but, it’s still quite a simple game. If you want a fun and rewarding Megaways gaming experience but without too many bells and whistles, this is the game we’d recommend.
Magic Merlin Megaways
As the first Megaways slot from Storm Gaming, Magic Merlin Megaways isn’t particularly ground-breaking. It’s got fantastic graphics and an impressive look to it, but it’s still very similar to Bar X Safecracker and Mystery Reels Megaways. It doesn’t really bring us anything new, aside from a charming theme and vibrant aesthetic.
Temple Tumble Megaways
Temple Tumble Megaways looks fantastic and seems to have a high production value. It has cascading reels which can offer up generous wins, but there are also blank symbols that can make it pretty difficult to land prizes. The cool thing about this slot is that you can pick from three different free spins bonuses, each with a different volatility, so Temple Tumble aims to appeal to a wide range of players.
Golden Leprechaun Megaways
Golden Leprechaun Megaways is an online slot from Red Tiger Gaming that comes equipped with the usual parts, and three new additions. On any spin, one of three modifiers may be triggered which can either guarantee a win, add wilds to the reels or activate multiplier wilds. There’s also an impressive 10,000x top prize in this game.
Luck O’ The Irish Megaways
Luck ‘O The Irish Megaways is the only game in the series to offer players the chance to trigger multiple sets of reels. You can only trigger this feature by using the Bonus Bet option, which costs 20x your stake. It’s cheaper than most other Bonus Buy features but the fact that it is mandatory really takes away from this slot’s appeal.
Slots o Gold Megaways
There are three progressive jackpot prizes available in Slots O Gold Megaways, as it is part of Blueprint’s Jackpot King network. That’s the main selling point of this slot, as the only other features in this game are expanding wilds and re-spins. So, it’s a bit like a Megaways version of Starburst, but wins don’t come around nearly as often as we’d like.
Queen of Riches Megaways
Queen of Riches Megaways has a fairly high RTP at 96.9%, so that’s a pretty big deal. It features expanding wilds and synced wilds and, while the former does seem to increase your winning potential the latter doesn’t seem to make a difference at all. As a result, it’s not a very exciting game and doesn’t really hold our attention.
88 Fortunes Megaways
The original 88 Fortunes slot may not have been the most thrilling game, but most players flocked to it because it offered up progressive jackpots. In the Megaways version of this game, there are no progressive jackpots – so, we didn’t really get much out of this slot. Increasing your wager can turn symbols gold for increased payouts – but, without the additional wager, the payouts aren’t very generous which is why few players aren’t too excited about this game.
Hypernova Megaways
Hypernova Megaways doesn’t seem to be the most interesting slot in the series, as the only real additions are the jackpots. They aren’t progressive, though, which is a little bit of a bummer.
Irish Riches Megaways
This is another standard Megaways slots without any extras, beyond cascading reels and increasing multipliers during the base game. It’s part of the Jackpot King network, so there are progressive prizes on offer, but Irish Riches Megaways really isn’t that exciting of an online slot.
Starquest
With a retro-futuristic theme, Starquest (Big Time Gaming) brings players an interesting online gaming experience. There are expanding wild multipliers which trigger re-spins, but that’s really all there is to this game aside from the usual Megaways features. It’s quite a high variance game, as well, so while you can cash in on some very impressive wins, you do end up waiting a quite a while between them.
Battleship: Direct Hit
Battleship Direct Hit Megaways is one of the best-looking games in the series, but it does have the gameplay to really draw you in. The top prize is just 2500x, which is pretty measly when compared to other Megaways slots that offer upwards of 10,000x. The sinking ships bonus could be a lot of fun, but it rarely results in free spins, so it’s somewhat of a let-down if you’re not having a lucky day.
