Sweet Candy Dreams!
The dream experts tell us that dreaming about candy that looks great but tastes bitter means that you will meet a good-looking lover who is bad for you. If you dream of receiving boxes and boxes of chocolates, it means that someone older than you is interested in you - or possibly someone fatter than you!
But no dreaming for now - we need to be wide awake to establish which version we are looking at. There is a big square grid slot from Evoplay by the same name, but we are looking at the slot Microgaming brought out in 2017 with its vivid selection of toothsome treats. It has to be said that they look luscious - fruit jellies, jelly beans, boiled sweets and mints - but how tasty are the prizes? Read on to find out.
Candy Dreams of a marshmallow Jupiter
Candy Dreams has lovely music that is really restful. The graphics are mouth-watering, of course, with the candy planet resembling a marshmallow Jupiter. The play area is set against candyfloss-style clouds and stars with a sprinkling of hundreds and thousands.
This slot looks different and behaves differently, as it has variable rows. When you first access the slot, you will see five reels; however, the centre row has five rows, reels two and four have four rows, and the outer reels - one and five - have three rows. You will notice that the rows are dynamic and do not always line up exactly.
Spin any three of the candies on reels next to each other and you will win a prize, but this is just the beginning.
Juicy Jupiter - the candy planet bonus game
Three, four or five of the candy planet will give you great winnings and trigger the bonus feature. Three candy planets are worth 50 times your bet, four are worth five times, and three are worth 0.5 times.
During the bonus, all wins are multiplied by the total bet. You will see a background of deep space, with candy planets scattered across it. You have to make as many picks as you can in the time available. Each time you choose a planet, you will see one of three things: a random bonus amount, a red heart ‘extra life’ symbol that will extend your gameplay, or a planet and the word ‘pop’ that means the bonus game is over.
The win amounts that you see during the bonus game have already been multiplied by your total bet, so only the bonus win amount is displayed. Remember that you can't trigger the candy planet bonus during free spins.
The candy twirl scatters free Candy Dreams spins
The candy twirl with its surrounding stars is a free spins fountain! Three twirls are worth 50 times your bet, four are worth five times, and three are worth 0.5 times. Three, four or five of these will also trigger 12 free spins. Any scatter wins are added to your other wins and the scatter will pay out in any position. The amount wagered is always the same as in the game that triggered the free spins.
Unfortunately, you can't have free spins running and also trigger the candy planet bonus round; in fact, neither the candy planet nor the candy twirl will appear during free spins. You also can't trigger more free spins during a free spins game, which is disappointing; however, any winnings are automatically collected for you during the free spins bonus game.
Are your Candy Dreams in colour? Wild!
There are three different colourful wild symbols. One is the Candy Dreams logo, another is a colourful ‘WILD’ symbol, and the third is a gift box of candy tied with ribbon. The wilds can substitute for any symbol except the candy twirl and the candy planet. Five wilds are worth five times your bet, four are worth 1.75 times, and three are worth 0.75 times; however, the ‘WILD’ logo and the candy box only appear during the free spins. When they combine with the Candy Dreams symbol during free spins, they create winning combinations and you receive the highest payout.
Sweeten the deal with Candy Dreams combos
Microgaming calls the combo reel wins ‘way wins’. These are awarded from left to right and the symbols have to appear on adjacent reels. You only get the highest winning combination, not every possible combination of the winning symbols. Of course, all way wins are multiplied by the number of coins you have wagered.
- The cute red sweetie with the flower will award you 28 for five candies, 8.75 for four and 3.50 for three.
- The orange sweet that looks like flower petals will award you 21 for five candies, 5.25 for four and 2.10 for three.
- The knobbly green fruity one will award you 17.50 for five candies, 3.50 for four and 1.40 for three. - The blue mint will award you 10.50 for five candies, 2.80 for four and 1.05 for three.
There are five more candies and they all pay out on combinations of five, four and three:
- The red candy awards 7, 2.10 and 0.70.
- The orange candy awards 5.25, 1.75 and 0.35.
- The green candy awards 3.50, 1.40 and 0.21.
- The blue candy awards 3.50, 1.40 and 0.21.
- The purple jelly bean awards 2.80, 1.05 and 0.14.
Candy Dreams paytable achievements
There are two paytable achievements boxes, one showing your achievements in this session and the other your all-time achievements. For your all-time top wins, click on the win box and you will see a pop-up table listing your highest ever wins and your most recent.
To see the stats for your current game session, go to the bottom right of the play area. You will see a small arrow - click on this and you will see a choice of options, help and stats. Click on stats to see your results for this session. You can see how many spins you have played, how long you have been playing, and your spins per hour. This is also a table showing your three highest wins. You can reset the table by clicking the reset button; otherwise, click ‘OK’ to close the box.
There are also your winning achievements over all the games you have played. The Candy Dreams paytable achievements feature shows your win status by highlighting the symbol combos that have won. When you win all possible combos for the same symbol, the symbol is highlighted. Even after you exit the game, your achievements are permanently displayed on the payout table. Regular game wins count as achievements; however, wins you achieved using wilds do not count, nor do free spins wins.
Customise Candy Dreams to suit your playing style
To customise this slot so that it suits the way you like to play, go to the bottom right of the play area. You will see a small arrow - click on this and you get the previously-mentioned choice of options, help and stats. This time click on options.
There are several gameplay settings here. You can speed up play by ticking the quickspin option. If you are playing on a device that is having trouble with the high-quality graphics or want to switch from basic to high quality, use the graphics settings section. You can make lots of changes to the sound, from switching off all sounds, just game or win sounds, or only background sounds.
Use Candy Dreams autoplay feature to keep spinning
You can set autoplay to spin 10, 25, 50 or 100 times by clicking on the autoplay button - the options will appear above the button. You can also use the ‘until stop’ command to keep those spins going until you intervene to stop them - when autoplay is running, the autoplay button shows ‘stop’.
There is also a custom option - click on this and you open the autoplay settings box. You can set the spins to be from 5 to 500 and can set the stop settings. You can either choose to have the spins stop once the total you set has been reached or you can stop if you get a win of a certain amount. Click on this option and you will be able to use the coins box to specify the size of win that will stop autoplay. The options are 1, 100, 500, 1,000, 5,000 and 9,999.
When you have finished setting your custom options, click on save and close to save the changes or start to start autoplay with the new options in effect. If you have changed your mind, just click on cancel. When the game is in autoplay mode, there is a useful counter at the bottom of the play area that shows the number of the current spin and the number you have set in total.
You can also adjust the sound on the game. In the top right-hand corner of the playing area, you will see a small speaker icon. Click on this and a slider bar opens that enables you to increase or decrease the volume of the soundtrack.
Customising your wagering in Candy Dreams
If you are playing in free mode, you will see a credits or demo credits box to the bottom left of the screen. Click on this and a box opens that has two tables. One summarises the number of credits and coins that you currently have. Click on the options tab and you can choose whether to see your money as credits, coins or both. If you choose coins and credits, the coins will be listed above the credits.
If you choose either coins or coins and credits, a new button is added to the control dashboard at the bottom of the playing area. This says coin size; if you click on it, you will see a box that enables you to set the coin size and the number of coins per bet. The coin size can be up to 0.50 and the number of coins can be any number from one to ten. If you click on max bet, the game will automatically set the highest coin size and the maximum number of coins and reflect this in the bet total, although you can manually adjust the bet total if you wish.
