Introduction

We love free play slots with stunning graphics, exciting gameplay and maybe a little something extra. Capecod have obliged with Magic Woods, with its 5 reels depicting a beautiful and strange Japanese scene, and its 15 paylines boosted by a free spins round.

Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

There’s a distinctive style to manga and anime, the comics and cartoons of Japan. It’s instantly recognisable, including in this artistically drawn slot. An elegant tree trunk rises at one side of the screen, allowing its pink blossom to settle above the gold-framed reels. There’s a stylised quality to every symbol, from the humans to the supernatural creatures that accompany the traditional J, Q, K and A, that may take a little time to get used to when you first see it, but that makes for an overall stunning appearance. It’s helped by how many symbols expand to fill multiple spaces. There’s also a twanging Japanese tune constantly playing to make the world of Magic Woods even more immersive.

Magic Woods RTP and Variance

It’s unfortunate that not all Capecod demo slots have the highest RTP. The 95.5% average of Magic Woods is just as theoretical as a slot with an impressive 96 or 97%, but that doesn’t make it any less disappointing when you first see it sitting below so many other modern games. You’ve just got to hope for those statistical deviations that make slots so unpredictable, and also fun to play. Long term play of the free demo will also give you the chance to calculate variance, or frequency of wins, as there doesn’t seem to be any official figure for this.

How to Play Magic Woods

Travel to Japan isn’t actually required:

  1. You’ll find 2 sources of information actually in game. There are 2 little buttons in the bottom left corner, one for the paytable and one a help page with the game rules. It’s everything you need to know.
  2. On the opposite side, in the right hand corner, are buttons to help control your settings. Click on the gear and be given options to switch show intro, fast spin and winning lines details on and off.
  3. The two other buttons in this corner are for sound and full screen mode.
  4. Now we move to the buttons directly under the reels. The first are plus and minus signs to adjust the paylines available. That means either a lower bet or more chances to win.
  5. Next another adjustor, this time for coins per line. It will have bearing on the total bet displayed right next to it. An alternative way to adjust your bet is to click the max bet button towards the centre.
  6. Skip the other centre buttons for now and move to the right. You can adjust your coin value, which in turn changes the coin credit value displayed next to it and the bet displayed further down.
  7. You need to watch both your bet level and your balance (also down the bottom) to make sure you’re sticking to a sensible budget. That’s also why you should set loss and single win limits. It’s what keeps your game under control.
  8. If you choose autoplay, the game will watch your limits for you. As well as setting up to 500 automatic spins, you can include stopping points after a certain balance increase, balance decrease or single win. Of course, you can also just click the regular spin button in the middle and check everything after each individual spin.

Always play responsibly. Don’t chase losses and take regular breaks. When the fun stops, stop.

Bet & Win Sizes

Your coins per line can be between 1 and 10. Your coin value ranges from 0.01 to 0.15. That means a highly reasonable 0.15 minimum and 22.50 maximum for your total bet.

As for what you win, that depends on whether you match 3, 4 or 5 symbols. The maximum prize for each is as follows:

J, Q, K - 40

A - 50

Cat - 60

Banner - 80

Woman - 100

Warrior - 250

Fish - 500

There are 2 different wilds, and both pay in their own right as well as acting as substitutes. Their top value is 500.

Magic Woods Review

The best thing about Magic Woods is its graphics, which are breathtakingly beautiful and give the entire slot its own distinct style and character. It’s a piece of art that’s a pleasure to look at, and luckily it’s not too bad on the gameplay front either. The different levels of free spin in particular add extra excitement. It might make you want to try the Capecod Gems of Egypt slot.
