Introduction

Endorphina has been creating interesting games since 2010, and there are many Endorphina free slots available to play on some of the world’s best slot casinos. Magnum Opus is a very pared-down game in contrast to some other very heavily themed games like Endorphina's In Jazz slot.

Magnum Opus has a three-reel, three-column grid with five pay lines. You can choose to play any number of lines from one to five. The minimum bet is 0.01 and the maximum is 50.00. There are eight regular symbols: a Lion, a Crescent Moon, a Magic Eye, the elements Earth, Fire, Water and Air, and a Triangle in a Circle.

Theme, Graphics and Soundtrack

This is well-designed game. The backdrop may be only a brick wall, but it really helps to build the atmosphere of the laboratory with eerie light and tiny twinkling bodies. The reels and symbols are extremely smart, while the plucked violins on the soundtrack sound mysterious and the choral voices punctuating the spins are slightly sinister. It has an appealing authenticity that makes it a pleasure to look at.

Magnum Opus Bonus Features

Golden Elixir Bonus Game

If nine alchemical elements of a kind (Earth, Fire, Water or Air) land on the reels they will trigger the Golden Elixir Bonus game. During the feature you will be transported to the Alchemist’s Laboratory. There you will make him create gold.

If you are successful the Alchemist will increase your nine-of-a-kind wins as follows:

If you make copper (cuprum) the multiplier is 2x
If you make silver (argentum) the multiplier is 4s
If you make gold (aurum) the multiplier is 8x

It is not possible to make gold on your first try. Before you can do so you need to create copper and then silver. In order to begin the experiment you must select an alchemical element from the right.

If your experiment succeeds, you are awarded the metal and can go to the next level by adding one of the remaining alchemical elements to the metal you have already produced. If your experiment fails, the bonus game is over.

In the bonus game wins are not cumulative. Only the last multiplier to be activated will be used for the nine-of-a-kind win. The bonus game can't be won again during the feature.

Gamble Feature

This offers the chance to increase your winnings by a factor of up to 10. Pick a card from the four which are dealt face down. If you beat the dealer’s card, your win is doubled and you may try again. If the dealer wins at any stage, you lose your winnings and the game ends. All closed cards can be higher or lower than the dealer’s. Cards can re-appear from round to round. The joker beats all cards. In a draw neither wins nor loses and you may try again. If you prefer not to gamble, click Take Win. You can do this at the start or at any stage during the feature.

Magnum Opus Review: Our Verdict

For a simple game this holds the interest well. Our only real complaint is that the auto mode is very basic and doesn’t allow you to set it to stop on any win, so unless you are paying attention and can stop the reels in time, you miss your chance to gamble. Otherwise, pleasantly diverting.
