Introduction

Muay Thai is a fairly simple game from the Asian start-up Dragoon Soft. Its full name according to some sources is Muay Thai Champion to distinguish it from the Muay Thai slot from CQ9. It was a comparatively early release in the range of Dragoonsoft free slots but already demonstrates the game developer’s ambition to produce very competitive free slots. 

Muay Thai has a five-reel grid with three columns. It has 243 pay lines. The minimum bet size is 0.5, and the maximum is 500 with the 243 lines being fixed. There are five medium symbols - the Scorekeeper, the Ring, the Boxer’s Shorts, the Bell and the Punchbag - plus four lower-paying symbols, which are Ace to Jack. The wild is the kick-boxer and the free game symbol is the trophy belt.

Theme, Graphics and Soundtrack

There is a very pleasing authenticity to the backdrop of this game, which is a hyper-realistic representation of a kick-boxing ring, complete with the glaring floodlights, red ropes to the left and white ropes to the right. There is some very effective animation, including a fist punching and shattering stone and the kickboxer hero coming impressively to life. We did wish the bikini-clad scorekeeper would cheer up, though. Still, standing about holding up a large Number 1 must be a thankless task.

So it looks very good, but as is so often the case, the soundtrack lets it down. We are firmly in the grip of an '80s electro-beat nightmare, which threatens every now and then to go a bit ravey but then pulls back from the brink. A shame, because something a bit beefier and more unusual would have made a nice finishing touch.

How to Play Muay Thai (Dragoon Soft)

1. Click the Play button to start playing using the current total bet value. You can also use the Space Bar to start if you enable this in the settings menu. Press the Stop button, which replaces the Play button, to stop the reels mid-spin.
2. Select the Coins symbol to select a bet level from 0.5 to 500. 
3. The Auto spin function allows you to select spins from 100 to infinity. 
4. Click the main menu at the bottom left, then click the settings cog to bring up various visual and speed-of-play settings. Here you can also set the autoplay game game to stop on a win at a specified minimum level and also set maximum cash increase levels and cash loss levels.
5. The balance is displayed at the bottom left of the screen.

Special Symbol: Wild

The wild substitutes for all symbols except for the free game symbol. The wild symbol appears only on reels 3, 4 and 5.

Special Symbol: Free Game

If three free game symbols land anywhere on the reels, then free games are activated. In the free game the win is the total bet by the odds as follows:

5 = 100
4 = 30
3 = 3

When three free game symbols land anywhere on the reels you will win the matching free game. Three free game symbols win 15 new free games, four symbols win 20 and five win 25.

In the free game winning combinations are shuffled and will be rewarded with the corresponding multiplier, to a maximum of 10x. In free games the free games cannot be retriggered.

Bonus mode appears at random on reels 2, 3 and 4. The reel changes into stacking wilds. In bonus mode winning combinations will not be shuffled.

Although there seems to be nothing new under the sun in the world of online slot games, and CQ9 also have a game called Muay Thai, kick-boxing is not that familiar a theme, so Dragoon Soft have done well to construct a decent slot from the subject matter. To be honest, there isn’t anything particularly surprising in the game play, but there is enough to keep you interested, like the fighter feature, which adds extra wild symbols.
