Theme, Graphics & Design

It’s difficult to nail the look of a fantasy themed slot, especially one with a slightly darker edge. Most developers opt for cartoonish visuals or unrealistic settings, playing the fantasy for laughs. CT Gaming has adopted a different mindset here, and the results are spectacular.

Mystic Moon’s setting is dark and gothic, and it's dead serious. The background shows a deep, dark cavern, possibly a dilapidated temple or altar. Magical symbols like the owl, witch and black cat are exceptionally detailed. An ominous crescent moon glows behind the cat, and strange, green planets orbit above the owl.

Even the letters and numbers are covered in vines, and the blue-eyed witch stares piercingly into you as you play. Mystic Moon is dark, brooding and fascinating, which is why it’s such a shame that there isn’t much music. The sound effects are suitably mysterious and there's a burst of music when the slot loads (and occasionally throughout), but a full soundtrack would have made all the difference.
