Introduction

Raging Bison is an animal themed slot from the extensive range of Stakelogic free slots. Despite its more serious look and tone, it shares much in common with some of the developer’s more extravagantly themed slots like Stakelogic's Lucky Mushroom's Deluxe. However, rather than a fantasy setting, it opts for the desolate landscape of the American west, rugged and timeless.

Raging Bison uses a 5x3 grid with 243 paylines. The minimum coin size is 0.01 and the maximum is 1. The bet size ranges from 0.40 to 40. There are 12 symbols. The Scatter is a golden bison coin, and the remaining regular symbols are Bison, Bear, Mountain Lion, Wolf and Eagle, then the playing cards from Ace to 9. The wild is the giant, iconic Saguaro Cactus.

Theme, graphics and soundtrack

Stakelogic have unashamedly borrowed from the games of other developers for this slot, but since there is very little new under the sun in the gaming world, we shouldn’t hold that against them, especially as they have named it using a slightly cheeky reference to the famous Martin Scorsese film Raging Bull.

The background gives us a view across a canyon from America’s remote desert lands, but because the reels are opaque, we don’t get to see much of it and there is no animation. The reels themselves are set in a frame constructed from totem poles, and the soundtrack uses a Hollywood-style Native American theme. This is not the Old West of sheriffs and outlaws; it is an older, more natural world and the animals chosen as symbols are as iconic as the cactus that appears as the Wild. Graphic effects are limited, but the artwork is good.

According to the makers, Raging Bison has an RTP of 96.13 per cent, which is slightly above average. The variance is high, although some sources calculate it to be medium to high.

How to play Raging Bison

1. Win by landing identical symbols on 3 or more consecutive reels, counting from left to right. Landing multiple winning symbols on a reel multiplies that win. Scatter wins are awarded for symbols appearing on any position on the reels. Scatter wins and extra bonus prize wins are added to win-way wins. Free spins are played at the same payways and bet as the trigger game.
2. Raging Bison has four classic slot game modes to choose from, plus a superbet mode that awards spins on a magic wheel.
3. Click the Spin button or press the space bar to start playing using the current Total Bet.

Raging Bison review: Our verdict

This is clearly an imitation of games that have gone before, and although it looks good, it really doesn’t provide any surprises. With no bonus game, you really are left with just the usual limitations of the standard grid, and attention does start to wane fairly quickly.
