Introduction

Northern Lights Gaming aren’t a particularly well-known game studio - especially when pitted against industry giants like Big Time Gaming, Red Tiger and NetEnt - but that hasn’t stopped them from attempting to “make moves” in the iGaming industry, and Rock the Cash Bar - their latest release - is a stark reminder to the bigger game developers that small studios are capable of pushing out decent games. Northern Lights Gaming has teamed up with Yggdrasil with Rock the Cash Bar, so you’ll find the game available at all Yggdrasil casinos.

Graphics

The slot is based around a disco - and, as you can tell from the moment you first load it up, it’s all about booze, dancing - and, hopefully - winning some cash! Rock the Cash Bar is set on a 5-reel, 5-row format, although the size of the reel set increases during the free-spins bonuses.

Graphics-wise, Rock the Cash Bar does the job - and you’ll see the reels set on a bar. Champagne bottles and cocktail mixers can be seen to the left-hand-side and right-hand-side of the reels, and there’s some funky disco and strobe lights in the background along with a pretty fitting soundtrack.

Rock the Cash Bar

RTP and Volatility

The slot is playable from between 0.10 and 500 credits per spin, so it’s well-suited to those on both low and high budgets. Rock the Cash Bar has an RTP of 96.06% and it’s classified as being a fairly low variance slot, so there’s not a huge amount of volatility.

Rock the Cash Bar’s Symbols And Payouts

The paytable is something most players look at immediately - and it usually gives you a pretty good idea of whether or not a slot is capable of actually paying well or not! Rock the Cash Bars paytable is made up of a number of neon signs, and in terms of the look and feel - we can’t really fault Northern Lights Gaming here. All of the symbols fit in well with the theme and they display really nicely on the disco-scene backdrop.

For the lower-paying symbols various fruits have been used by the game developer, and you’ll see Oranges, Limes, Pineapple Slices and Cherries present here. These pay anywhere from 1.6X to 2X your stake for a 5-of-a-kind combo - not a lot, but you’ve got to remember it is a “ways-to-win” slot, so the payouts are naturally going to be a lot smaller than conventional slots.

Rock the Cash Bar’s mid-paying symbols are four different coloured booze bottles, and these pay between 3-4X your stake for lining up a 5-of-a-kind combo. Rock the Cash Bar’s best paying symbol is the Rock the Cash Bar itself, and a 5-of-a-kind combo of this logo awards a payout worth 5X your stake. The Rock the Cash Bar logo also pays for just a 2-of-a-kind combo, while all other symbols require a 3-of-a-kind or higher combo to be formed to make a win.

The neon sign is the wild symbol in Rock the Cash Bar, and this substitutes for all other symbols aside from the scatter symbols. There’s a few different scatter symbols and special “ticket” symbols, all of which are key to triggering the free-spins bonus. We’ll take a closer look at the bonuses and features in Rock the Cash Bar in the next part of this

Rock the Cash Bar Bonus Features

Rock the Cash Bar is all about the free-spins bonus - a feature we’ll talk about in just a moment. However, there is a minor reel modifier which we should mention, and this occurs randomly during the base-game. It’s called the Wild Night Out Bonus, and you’ll know pretty quickly when this feature is triggered as you’ll see a number of spotlights beaming themselves onto the reels once a spin has completed.

If any of these spotlights end up shining over symbols, the symbols they hover over are transformed into wild symbols - and this guarantees you a win. According to Northern Lights Gaming, the Wild Night out bonus triggers, on average, once in every 50 spins.

Free Spins

Most of the win-potential in Rock the Cash Bar is found within the free-spins bonus round, and this is triggered by landing a scatter symbol on reel one at the same time ticket symbols land on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. This will then trigger one of three different free-spins bonuses, and the ticket symbols all have numbers on, between 1 and 3, which tells you how many spins you’re getting. The lowest number of spins you can be awarded is 4, with the highest amount being 12.

You will then be awarded one of the following bonuses depending on which scatter symbol you landed:

  • Club Night Free Spins: during the free-spins, a win multiplier of 1X, 2X or 3X will be applied to all wins.
  • Invite Free Spins: during the free-spins, a win multiplier of 4X, 6X or 8X will be applied to all wins.
  • VIP Free Spins: during the free-spins, a win multiplier of 10X, 11X or 12X will be applied to all wins.

During the lower-two of the free-spins bonuses, it’s also possible to land “Upgrade” scatter symbols. When these appear in view you’ll move up to the next level; naturally, the VIP Free Spins bonus is the best, as the multipliers are worth significantly more than the other two.

During all free-spins bonuses another feature becomes active too; the Rock the Cash Bar re-spins feature. Anywhere from one to three re-spins can be randomly awarded - and these re-spins do not take up your remaining free-spins. On each re-spin, the size of the reels increases by one row - up to a maximum of 7 rows - and the height of the rows then “lock'” in place for the duration of the bonus, even when the re-spins have finished. The maximum possible number of ways-to-win, if you manage to get the reels 7-rows high is 16,807-ways-to-win.

Our Verdict Of Rock the Cash Bar

It’s clear, from the moment you first load up Rock the Cash Bar that Northern Lights Gaming have put a significant amount of time, effort and energy into developing the slot. There’s a unique energy - an aurora, almost - that captivates you from the moment you begin playing, and the neon-like graphics combined with a funky soundtrack make each spin quite exciting - not bad from a game developer most of our readers won’t have heard of!

Rock the Cash Bar is also fairly low in volatility. This means that the hit rate is pretty high (you’re likely to hit small, but frequent wins in the base-game), although these “wins” are often much less than the amount you’re wagering. Most of the potential in Rock the Cash Bar is locked up inside the free-spins bonus round, so it’s that that you’ll be wanting to trigger. It’s in no way a “game of the year” in our opinion, but Rock the Cash Bar offers some light-hearted fun, and relatively decent win-potential with up to 6,580X your stake to be won on every spin!

Who made Rock the Cash Bar?

Rock the Cash Bar is made by a fairly new, little-known game studio called Northern Lights Gaming. Despite their young age, the game developer has some decent releases under its belt, and Rock the Cash Bar is another prime example of what they’re capable of developing!

Why does Rock the Cash Bar appear with Yggdrasil’s logo and branding?

Northern Lights Gaming are a very small game developer. Because of this, they don’t have the distribution power of bigger game developers.
