Introduction

Booongo - which is not a misprint - was founded in 2015 and has main offices in Ukraine, Venezuela and Taiwan. Booongo slots cover a wide range of themes, many of them dealing in mythology and history, even if it’s still a rarity for Booongo, Tiger Jungle is not their only animal theme slot. Its mixture of jungle setting and slightly mystical ancient religious elements is faintly reminiscent of a game like Kalamba’s Tiger Claws slot.

Tiger Jungle uses a 5-reel grid with 4 rows. The minimum coin size is 0.01 and the maximum is 1.20. The minimum bet size is 0.25 and the maximum is 30. There are 10 regular symbols: Temple, Tiger, Panther, Bear, Bull and Fox, along with the top 4 playing cards. The wild is also the Tiger, the scatter is the Temple and the bonus symbol is a Lotus Flower.

Theme, graphics and soundtrack

This isn’t going to win any prizes for originality, but it has a solid design with a dense green jungle backdrop, smart animal illustrations, and animation that is generally modest but sharp, although the transition to free spins and bonus games is a little more ambitious.

Unfortunately, the soundtrack, despite the odd tribal drumbeat, is not terribly well-suited or atmospheric, almost lapsing into Ennio Morricone territory at times. Something less orchestral might have worked better, but others may not feel too strongly about this fairly minor point.

How to play Tiger Jungle

1. Click the coins icon for the bet settings. Alternatively, use the plus and minus symbols to either side of the bet level indicator to change them.
2. Your credit balance is displayed at the bottom left of the screen.
3. Click the Spin button or press the space bar to start.
4. Alternatively, click Auto Spin to start continuous play. You cannot select a number of spins - autoplay will continue until you press stop.
5. Click the Fast Forward button for turbo play.
6. Wild symbols appear on all reels and substitute for all symbols except Scatter and Bonus.
7. Scatter symbols appear on all reels and Scatter wins are paid independently of win lines
8. Bonus symbols appear on all reels. Bonus symbols pay only during the bonus game.
9. Bet lines pay for adjacent symbols from left to right.
10. Simultaneous or coincident wins on different paylines are added and paid.
11. Only the highest win per line is paid.
12. Scatter wins are added to payline wins.
13. The Last Win field displays the winning amount of the last winning round.

Tiger Jungle bonus features

Free Spins

3 or more scatter symbols landing during the base game will trigger 8 free spins. One or more sticky wild symbols landing on each of the reels will trigger an additional 5 free spins. During free spins, Wild symbols transform into Sticky Wilds. Sticky Wilds remain in place on the reels during free spins.

Bonus Game

6 or more bonus symbols will trigger the bonus game. All bonus symbols will stick on the reels during the bonus game. At the start of the bonus game, you are given 3 respins. For each new bonus symbol that lands on the reels, the number of respins will reset to 3. The bonus game continues until all respins are used or all 15 bonus symbols have been collected. When the bonus game ends, the values of all bonus symbols will be totalled and a bonus win paid.

Jackpots

Mini, Minor and Major Bonus symbols randomly appear during the bonus game and award the corresponding jackpots. If you collect all 15 bonus symbols of any type, you will win the Grand Jackpot in the bonus game.

Collect Symbol

The Collect symbol gathers all bonus symbols on the board. The Collect symbol appears only during the bonus game. During the bonus game, several Collect symbols may appear. They stick in place on the reels throughout the bonus game.

Tiger Jungle review: Our verdict

This is a decent mix of conventional base game play and a satisfying number of bonus features. It also has a hold and win feature, which is always nice to see. The maximum payout is attractive, and there are plenty of opportunities for small and larger wins, but the RTP is a little disappointing. It's a good effort, nonetheless.
