Theme and Graphics
In Gemix 2, we’ve got the same characters from the original game – the miner, princess and wizard – but there are a couple of new additions. A knight has now been added into the mix, who offers up his own special perks, and you’ll also find a gnome that offers entry into the World Bonus if you’re lucky.
Gemix 2 RTP and Variance
The RTP (return to player) of Gemix 2 is 96.26%. This is slightly lower than the original game’s payout percentage of 96.83%.
It is also a high variance slot. What this means is that wins might not come around as often as you’d expect from a medium variance slot but the top prize of 7,500x is higher than in the average slot game today.
How to Win
Gemix 2 takes place on a 7x7 grid, and wins are created by landing 5 or more symbols in a group. If you hit a win, the symbols in the combo disappear and new symbols fall into their places. The cascades continue until no more wins occur.
As you land wins, you’ll also cause the World Bonus to increase. You have the chance to win this once you start completing World Patterns.
World Pattern and Guardian Bonuses
When the game begins, a special pattern is highlighted behind the symbols on the reels. If you manage to land wins on all of the highlight symbols, you’ll move on to the next world with a new pattern.
Depending on which world you’re in, a new guardian perk will be enacted – but, you’ll sometimes get a guest appearance from a character from another world:
- Knight: adds two mega wilds to the grid
- Miner: adds up to 10 wilds to the game
- Princess: adds spreading wilds which can make their way across the screen
- Wizard: up to 5 sticky wilds are added to the reels
When you’ve completed 2 World Patterns, you also have the chance to win the World Bonus. A shady little gnome character will appear and prompt you to pick one of his two pockets. If you pick correctly, you’ll win the world bonus – a jackpot prize that has been collected over the course of your spins in the last world.
Crystal Charge Meter
As you land wins, the winning symbols will fill the Charge Meter. Once you’ve collected 25 or more symbols in the meter, one of four modifiers will be applied to the game:
- Nova Blast: one symbol explodes and destroys the symbols around it
- Crystal Warp: one symbol is chosen to transform into other symbols
- Light Beam: one symbol shoots outs beams and transforms any symbols that it hits
- Chain Lightning: a bolt of lightning connects two symbols in opposite corners of the game; any symbols that connect the two will transform into one of the corner symbols
Gemix 2 Slot Review
Gemix 2 is a great sequel to the Play’n GO classic. Not too much has changed about the original game – but there are some fantastic additions that keep you entertained.
The one thing that really lets the game down is its volatility. As a more highly volatile game than the original, Gemix 2 doesn’t award wins quite as frequently – so, you do have to wait a while before you can take advantage of the Charge Meter bonuses.
This also makes it difficult to complete World Patterns. So, the chance to win the World Bonus doesn’t come around too often.
Still, Gemix 2 offers players a fun gaming experience. It’s got all of the features that we loved about the original game while adding in a few new perks that give you something to look forward to – without being overly complex.
