Introduction

Red Tiger Gaming are well-known for “not holding back” when it comes to designing and developing slots, and they’re known for pushing out incredible-looking games with some unique bonuses and features and game mechanics. Unfortunately, Lucky Fridays isn’t - we feel - one of the game developer’s best efforts, and it comes across as a little bland - and also a little strange.

Format and RTP

Lucky Fridays is set in an office - and no, we’re not kidding! The slot is based all around the idea of “clock watching”, and the employees - the characters in the slot - are all waiting for the end of the day so they can go partying! Lucky Fridays is structured around a 5-reel, 4-row format and there’s a total of 30 fixed paylines active on every spin. Players can spin the reels from as little as 0.10 credits and as much as 20 credits per spin, and the slot’s RTP is 95.77% which is a bit lower than we’d perhaps like to see. It is also a medium/high volatility slot.

In this Lucky Fridays slot review we’re going to be taking an in-depth and impartial look at what the game has to offer - and we’ll kick things off with a look at the game’s symbols and payouts. Later on, we’ll show you the bonuses and features inside the game, and to finish off we’ll give you our honest verdict - and we’ll also answer some frequently asked questions commonly associated with the slot.

Lucky Fridays

Lucky Fridays Symbols And Payouts

We were really happy to see that Red Tiger Gaming have chosen to built all the symbols in Lucky Fridays around the theme - you won’t find any generic playing card values, including 10, jack, queen, king, and ace like you do in the vast majority of online video slots today, and this not only showcases Red Tiger Gaming’s creativeness - but it also allows you to become more immersed within the game, playing alongside theme-specific symbols.

The symbols are still split into lower-paying and higher-paying symbols, and the lower-paying symbols include a Cologne Bottle, a Wallet, Keys, Dress Shoes, Sunglasses and an Expensive-Looking Watch. These lower-paying symbols are not worth very much, paying just 1-2.5X your stake for lining up a 5-of-a-kind combo.

The game’s higher-paying symbols are all characters - and you’ll see two different men and two different women. Lining up a 5-of-a-kind combo of these symbols awards a payout worth between 4-10X your stake, so again, while it’s not great - there is some mediocre win-potential to be found here.

Lucky Fridays also has a wild symbol, and this is represented by what looks like a Lamborghini. The wild symbol substitutes for all other symbols in the game, and while it doesn’t apply a multiplier to any wins it does have its own paytable, awarding a payout worth 20X your stake for a 5-of-a-kind combo. There are no scatter symbols in Lucky Fridays.

Lucky Fridays Bonus Features

Lucky Fridays is pretty unique - and the in-game clock, when it strikes 18:00 sharp - will activate a “change of scene”, and the game will shift into Party Time mode. When this happens you’ll see that the background image changes, and you’ll see lots going on - new animations, sounds and graphics take up the space on your screen, and we can’t deny that it’s quite a good laugh - Red Tiger Gaming are clearly trying to mimic the feel of the end of the day at the office when everyone is desperate to get out and have fun on Fridays!

When the Party Time mode has been activated, there’s a number of physical changes to the reels too. For example, all of the game’s higher-paying symbols dress up to party - and this means they actually change in appearance, with smoking cigars and glasses of vino finding their way into the hands of the slot’s main characters! During Party Time mode, the value of the higher-paying symbols also changes, and lining up a 5-of-a-kind combo of the top-paying symbols now pays between 11 and 15X your stake.

When Party Time has been activated, you’ll also have the chance to trigger one of three mini-features. These occur quite frequently during Party Time mode, and there are three reel modifiers in total, all of which we’ll take a look at below:

  • Party Reels: When the Party Reels feature triggers, all of the game’s lower-paying symbols are removed from the reels. You’ll then be given a spin (or multiple spins if you’re really lucky) during which only the higher-paying symbols are left on the reels.
  • Wild Party: When the Wild Party feature is triggered, wild symbols are dropped on the reels in random positions. These wilds can either be normal sized, but they can also come in “gigantic” form too, and it’s possible to land a 3X3 wild on the reels if you’re really
  • Multiplier Party: The Multiplier Party feature sees one or two dice rolled on the screen; the value of each dice rolled is then added together, and this then becomes a multiplier which is then applied against your next win. It’s possible for the multiplier to reach 12X.

Party Time mode continues until the game’s clock reaches midnight - and at this point the game returns to normal, with all the added sound effects and animations disappearing until the feature emerges once more!

Our Verdict Of Lucky Fridays

Before Red Tiger started pushing out Megaways slots - and slots built in conjunction with NetEnt - they had a habit of developing games that all felt the same. We’re talking titles like Lucky Halloween, Puss ‘n Boots - those types of games that generally offered relatively low win-potential and played very similarly during the base-game and bonus rounds. Lucky Fridays is, unfortunately, a bit of a step-back in our opinion for Red Tiger, and we found that the base-game was incredibly bland, with tons of dead spins and lots of unnecessary mini-feature teases interrupting the gameplay.

Now, that's not to say Lucky Fridays doesn’t look good - as with most of the game developer’s slots, the graphics are impeccable and the slot plays really well on all devices too. However, we can’t help but feel that there are just a few too many dead spins - and this is likely to have a major impact on the overall enjoyment factor of most players.

Thankfully, there is some good news - and that’s because Lucky Fridays is capable of dishing out some fairly decent wins, and the bonuses and features - when actually triggered - are pretty decent. We like the Party Reels bonus, as it allows you to be in with a real chance of landing a full screen of premium symbols - and it’s here that you’ll find the majority of the game’s win-potential.

Lucky Fridays Slot FAQs

Which company built Lucky Fridays?

Lucky Fridays is a video slot developed by a company called Red Tiger Gaming. They’re one of the leading game developers on the planet, and in the last year they were actually acquired by NetEnt. Despite this, they continue to operate independently, releasing their own games under their own branding.

What are the stake options available in Lucky Fridays?

Red Tiger Gaming have a good track record when it comes to building games designed to appeal to the “masses” - and one of the ways in which they achieve this is by ensuring that players can access a wide variety of stake options. In Lucky Fridays, for example, you’ll find yourself able to stake from as little as 0.10 credits per spin, and the maximum bet is 20 credits per spin - perhaps not as much as you’d see in other games, but enough to satisfy the needs of most players.

What’s the RTP of Lucky Fridays?

Lucky Fridays has an RTP of 95.77%. This is already on the low side of the scale, and like with most of Red Tiger Gaming’s slots, Lucky Fridays ships with lower RTP settings too. This means that online casinos can choose which RTP that they want to offer.

Are there any jackpots in Lucky Fridays?

Generally speaking, no. However, a couple of the larger UK-focused bookamers like Betfair have special contracts with Red Tiger Gaming, and this means that progressive jackpots are often built into games that don’t conventionally have progressive jackpots attached.

What happens during the Party Reels bonus in Lucky Fridays?

The Party Reels bonus is one of the most popular features, and it can be triggered randomly in any spin - during the base-game. When the Party Reels feature activates, all the lower-paying symbols are completely removed from the reels, making it far easier to land a big win - especially as there are only premium symbols left in view on the reels!
