North South Lions Game Theme & Storyline

Chinese themed slots games are huge at the moment, and in fact have been for several years. Probably the biggest and best known of the Chinese themed slots is the outrageously successful 88 Fortunes. It's spawned hundreds of imitations, but not all are worth playing. North South Lions, however, does enough to stand out from the crowd and has an excellent free spins feature complete with multiplier that has huge win potential if you're lucky enough to trigger it. The symbols in both the base game and the free spins game are a mixture of regular playing card symbols and higher paying picture symbols featuring iconic Chinese images, such as dragons and gongs.

Graphics & Soundtrack

The graphics are decent but nothing special, and the same can be said for the soundtrack. The sound effects are minimal and pretty generic. Expect to hear the sound of reels clicking as they spin rather than any specially produced music or more interesting sound effects. The graphics are perhaps slightly disappointing given that this is a newer game. There is so much competition among slots providers at the moment that most of them are creating something a little special. How to Play North South Lions

There are a few different settings you'll need to adjust here before you get started. This is a variable payline slots game so you can't just hit spin (unless you're happy with the default settings that is). First, select the coin size you wish to play with. You can do this by clicking on the coin size display at the bottom of the reels. A pop-up menu will show you the available coin sizes. Choose the coin size you want and move onto the paylines.

There are 30 paylines in this game and you'll want to be betting on all of them to give yourself the best chance of hitting a winning combo. Of course, if you prefer to play with fewer lines, you can do this too. Cycle through the available paylines (it goes up in increments of 1, giving you lots of flexibility) and choose which lines you want to bet on. As you cycle, the active paylines will be highlighted on the screen, showing you which lines you'll be betting on. When you've selected your paylines, move onto the coins per line setting. This is where you finalise what your total bet amount will be. For example, let's say you're betting on all 30 lines and your coin size is 2. If you choose to be one coin per line, your total bet will be 60 coins. Up this to 4 coins per line, and your total bet will be 240 coins, and so on. Your total bet will be displayed at all times on the screen, making it easy to keep track of while you're adjusting the settings.

When you're happy with the total bet amount and your line choice, hit the spin button and watch the reels go! If you prefer to set up a number of spins and sit back and watch, you can use the autoplay function. Click the autoplay button and a pop-up menu will let you choose from 50 to 1,000 spins.

North South Lions Bonus Features & Free Spins

You can trigger the game's bonus feature by landing three or more scatters on the reels. The scatters can appear on any of the reels in the base game, and in any position. They do not need to be part of an active payline. You will be awarded an unlimited number of free games initially. To start the bonus game, you will be invited to choose between two free spins modes, each with the same features but a different wild symbol. During the free games session, two special wilds will appear on reel 3. As with the base game, the wilds will sub for all other game symbols except the scatter (which doesn't actually appear during free spins). As well as increasing your chances of a win, the special wilds come with a multiplier - the first time one lands, you will receive a 2x multiplier. After every five spins, the multiplier increases by one, up to a maximum of 8x. Free spins end whenever the wild symbol you did not choose at the start of the bonus feature lands on the reels.
