The Green Knight is a brand-new video slot from Play’n Go that’s built around a 5-reel, 3-row format. There are 20 fixed paylines, and the default RTP is 96.27%. You can spin the reels from between 0.10 and 100 credits per spin, and the machine is very volatile. Bonuses and features are plentiful and include free spins, shield spins, and wild multipliers.
Play’n Go are known for pushing out quality games at a rate virtually no other software provider can match - and their latest release, The Green Knight, is testament to the fact that online gambling developers can push out a lot of content without sacrificing on quality.
This 5-reel, 3-row video slot can be played from as little as 0.10 credits per spin, and has a maximum bet of 100 credits. In this The Green Knight slot review we’re going to take a close look at the game - and what it has to offer - and we’ll start things off with a look at the graphics and theme of the slot.
Graphics and Theme
The Green Knight is themed around a little-known character called Sir Gawain - King Arthurt’s nephew, who ended up joining his Uncle at the now-famous round table along with a variety of other nobles and knights. Play’n Go have managed to capture the theme of this well, and The Green Knight looks great, with some stunning HD graphics rendering behind the reels.
The symbols are all crafted to fit in well with the theme too - even the lower-paying symbols look great - and we think it’s fair to say the software provider has done an excellent job with the graphics of The Green Knight!
The Green Knight’s RTP and Volatility
We’ve become used to seeing Play’n Go slots being shipped out in different RTP settings - and, in fact, they were one of the first game developers to begin doing so. While this may be an irritation to players, it does allow online casinos - especially in the UK - to continue offering the games while still making a profit, although, where possible, you should always try to play video slots with the highest RTP possible.
The Green Knight ships in two RTP settings, and these are 96.27% and 94.25%. Thankfully, the higher RTP version is the “default” version of the game.
When it comes to volatility, The Green Knight is highly volatile; so expect quite a lot of dead spins in the base-game, and bonuses that pay very little. However, with up to 10,000X your stake on offer, it’s natural that the slot will play this way, so it’s not the end of the world!
From the moment you first load up The Green Knight you’ll be faced with a plethora of bonuses and features - all of which we’re going to be discussing in the following section of this review.
One of the biggest keys to The Green Knight is the wild symbols; as you’d expect, these substitute for all other paying symbols to help you complete wins. However, they also can land with multipliers - and these are worth 2X, 5X, 10X, 25X or 100X. When these multiplier wilds land in view, and they form part of a winning combination, the multiplier shown on the wild is applied to the win. What’s more, the multiplier wilds multiply against one another - so there’s some mega win-potential on offer here.
For example, during the base-game, a 5-of-a-kind combo of the regular wilds pays 100X your bet; however, if you managed to line up a 5-of-a-kind combo of the 100X multiplier wilds you’d be paid out a whopping 10,000X your stake!
Landing the main free-spins bonus round requires you to land 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view; The Green Knight himself. Doing so will award you with 5 free spins, and you’ll also get a cash payout worth 2.5X, 5X or 100X your stake, depending on how many scatter symbols you managed to land.
During the free-spins bonus round, there’s one major difference when compared against the base-game; you’re guaranteed to land at least one multiplier wild on every spin - and the values of these wilds increase, as the feature goes on. For example, on the first free spin the wild will be a 2X multiplier, on the second spin it’ll be a 5X multiplier, and so on.
There’s also another element to the free-spins bonus round, and this is triggered by The Green Knight scatter symbols. If you land two of these scatter symbols on a spin, the Shield Spins feature is activated; the free spins are then put on hold, and the wild multiplier that was present in the free-spins bonus round before The Green Knight scatter symbols landed is locked in place for those five spins.
The Green Knight Review
The Green Knight is yet another great release from Play’n Go, and, once again, all elements of their development side of things have been done near enough perfectly. While we’re used to seeing video slots created featuring wild multipliers, The Green Knight takes things up a notch, offering some of the highest wild multipliers we’ve seen in a video slot - and when a few of them land at once, it’s possible to unlock some insane win-potential within the game. We really like the fact that it’s possible for players to win up to 10,000X their stake on a single spin - and it’s the wild-line you’ll want to look out for, as, with a 100X multiplier, this is how you’ll achieve that maximum win-potential.
The bonus round is well-thought-out, even if it is pretty hard to actually trigger, and we really like the fact that the software provider has built a guaranteed progressive progressive multiplier into the mix. The Shield Spins we’ve seen before - in releases like Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter - but it’s a nice addition nonetheless, and we like how the game developer has gotten creative by offering locked wild multipliers instead of expanding symbols.
While it may not become as popular as some of the game developer’s other titles, The Green Knight is a solid effort from the company - and when it’s released next month, we expect it to do pretty well. In fact, we’re looking forward to giving it a go for ourselves!

The Green Knight FAQs

Yes! Here at Slots Temple we’ve worked hard to partner with some of the biggest software providers in the industry, and this includes Play’n Go! Because of this partnership, we’re able to give you the chance to try out The Green Knight for free - without needing to register an account or risk any of your own money! At the top of this page you’ll see a demo version of The Green Knight - and, if you’d like to try the slot out for yourself, you can simply load up this demo version of the slot and give it a try for yourself!
What are the betting limits in The Green Knight?
Something Play’n Go has almost always got right is the bet options within their games. They allow low-rollers to get in on the action by offering low minimum bets, and they take care of high-rollers too, offering quite substantial maximum bets. In The Green Knight, for example, you’ll find that you’re able to wager as little as 0.10 credits per spin, and as much as 100! However, it is, ultimately, up to the online casino hosting the game to determine which betting limits they want to have on the game.
What is the RTP of The Green Knight?
Like most Play’n Go slots, The Green Knight is available in flexible RTP settings - although, according to what we know so far, The Green Knight is only going to be made available to online casinos in two RTP settings. The default RTP of the slot is 96.27% - this is the figure you should be looking for when playing it for yourself. Some online casinos, however, will choose to offer the lower RTP version of the game, which is fairly low, coming in at 94.25%.
What’s the maximum win in The Green Knight?
Something we’ve seen in quite a few of Play’n Go’s recent games is an increase in the maximum win-potential; they appear to have shifted gears, moving away from the 5,000X maximum win found in so many of their slots, and are, instead, turning to more volatile releases - The Green Knight being a great example of such a game. The maximum you can win from a single spin while playing The Green Knight is 10,000X your stake.
