It may have an Irish theme and soundtrack; however, aside from the four-leaf clover, there is little to the game that is specifically Irish. Traditional fruit symbols feature on the reels, although there is a further nod to the Irish tradition with a heavily decorated horseshoe. The game is nicely designed and clearly mobile-friendly, but there is nothing here that we haven’t seen many times before.

Four Lucky Clover bonus features and lucky spins

For such an apparently simple game, there is an awful lot going on in the Four Lucky Clover slot. To start with, there is that winning mechanic whereby you don’t have to match symbols from left to right across a payline. This is quite unusual for a slot.

Then there is the fact that any of the symbols can appear stacked on the reels. As all keen slots fans know, stacked symbols mean there are opportunities for multiple winning combinations with a single spin.

It is the Lucky Spins bonus round that is the main feature of Four Lucky Clover. To activate the bonus, you will need to land a win with a value at least 4x greater than your stake. Instead of the winning sum being added to your balance, it is shown at the bottom of the reels, which separate to form four 5x3 grids. Now you have up to 50 lucky spins, depending on how the reels spin for you. It should be noted that these are not exactly free spins, as you are paying for them out of the win that triggered the feature. The cost of each lucky spin is shown to the left, with the amount taken out of your winnings total. All wins resulting from lucky spins are added to the winning balance. If a stacked wild appears on grids one, two or three during the bonus round, it is replicated across all remaining grids, which can lead to some incredible wins.

Overall review

Once we got the hang of the Lucky Spins bonus round, we really started to enjoy playing Four Lucky Clover. The replicating stacked wilds in the bonus round can generate some decent prizes; however, if your stacked wilds land on the fourth reel, they are not of so much benefit.

What did put us off this game is the very poor RTP ratio. We wouldn’t be prepared to part with our cash at returns of 94 per cent - particularly not when attached to such high volatility. This is a shame, as we found Four Lucky Clover to feature some original and entertaining gameplay.
