The Monkey Prince slot is an Asian-themed slot which boasts 60 paylines and five reels and is available to play on your mobile and tablet as well as on your desktop PC. There are free spins aplenty and the chance to win as much as 1,000x your stake, as well as a trio of wild features.

This is one of the many IGT slots available to play online, but it is one of a kind when it comes to action and adventure. The game will take you on an exciting adventure to the west and boasts one of the most aesthetically pleasing designs of any of IGT’s slots. Add to this a mammoth betting range which goes from just 0.60 a spin to a massive 1,800 and a bevy of wild reels, surrounding wilds, Mask Collection wild features and free spins, and it is easy to understand why this is such a popular choice amongst players wanting some free spins fun in their lives.

On the Reels of The Monkey Prince

The reels of this game are bursting with Asian-themed colourful symbols. There are lions and dragons, along with four jewellery pieces. There are also three masks - in blue, yellow and red - and these are very important when it comes to one of the game’s features. The symbol line-up is completed by the playing card symbols J, Q, A and K, giving this slot an exciting exotic yet familiar feel.

Monkey Prince Slot

The wild symbol is the most lucrative one in standard play in this slot, which has an RTP of 96.16 per cent, and is worth 1,000 coins if you can manage to land five on one of your paylines. As the wild, it will also replace any other symbol in the game to boost your chances of creating winning combinations, although it cannot replace the scatter of the three masks. Even with these limitations, there is never a shortage of wild action in this interesting medium-variance slot from the masters at IGT.

Triggering the Wild Features in Monkey Prince

Collect the different coloured masks during the base game and prepare to trigger a potentially lucrative wild feature. What you trigger will depend on what masks you collect and how many you manage to amass. Your haul will be show in the corresponding meters found on the screen.

If you collect five of the blue masks, you will trigger a Scatter Wilds feature. During this bonus, either three of four positions will randomly become wild.

If you manage to amass five of the red masks, you will start the Random Wild Reels bonus, where from one to five of the reels will become totally wild.

The yellow masks will trigger a Surrounding Wilds feature. In this bonus, the game will pick a random position and the icon here will become wild, along with all of the other icons around it.

There are some great wins to be had from these bonuses, but the game’s piece de resistance really could hold the key to a bumper haul. If you can manage to collect the fifth mask in all three of the colours, you will enjoy one spin where all the wild features will be in play.

Monkey Prince Free Spins Bonus

If you get at least three scatters on the reels, you will join the title character on a journey to the kingdom in the sky. Here you will enjoy being able to choose wild features and free spins. The number of free spins you get will depend on how many of the scatters you manage to land on the reels and which of the features you choose.

Scatter Wilds Feature - If you get three scatters, you will get 25 free spins. This rises to 30 spins for four scatters and 50 for five. You can also get as many as four wild symbols on each of the spins.

Random Wild Reels - Get three, four or even five of the scatters and you will get ten, 15 or 25 extra free spins, along with a maximum of five wild reels which will happen on each one of your free spins.

Surrounding Wilds feature - This time you will get either five, ten or 15 extra spins, and these will be accompanied by a random wild with the ability to turn the surrounding positions wild as well. This will happen on every one of your spins.

The Surrounding Wilds sounds like the most lucrative of the free spins bonuses on offer, but you can also win big with the others. If you pick the Random Wilds Reels, for example, and manage to land five, or even four, wild reels on at least a few of your free spins, then your prize pot could be in for a healthy boost.

Remember that you can also retrigger your free spins bonus and you can’t fail to start getting excited about the potential wins on offer from this medium-variance game.

The Makers of Monkey Prince

IGT, the company behind Monkey Prince, has an abundance of free slots to play online. These include the likes of other animal-named slots such as Buffalo Rising Megaways, 100 Pandas, Cats, Coyote Moon, Electric Tiger, Fire Horse, Kitty Glitter, Prowling Panther and Wolf Run.

IGT stands for International Game Technology PLC, and it was formerly known as Lottomatica S.p.A. and Gtech S.p.A. It has headquarters in London as well as major offices in Las Vegas, Providence and Rome.

De Agostini holds a 51 per cent stake in the company and is the controlling force behind it. It became International Game Technology after acquiring an American gaming company of the same name in 2015.

IGT, when it was known as Gtech, managed lots of provincial and state lotteries in America. It also had lottery contracts in Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, Australia and Europe.

Today the company is renowned as one of the most popular slot machine and casino gaming companies on the planet, boasting around 12,000 employees across the globe. It develops, manufactures and designs slot machines, and its stable includes the likes of 100 Ladies, Apollo Rising, Ballonies, Baywatch 3D, Black Widow, Cleopatra, Crown of Egypt, CSI, Da Vinci Diamonds, Dungeons and Dragons slots, Ghostbusters games, and Harley Davidson Freedom Tour.

As well as serving land casino users, IGT is big news in the world of online slots and maintains its reputation as one of the world’s best-known and biggest slots providers. It has gained this reputation through production of such firm favourites as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Star Trek, Grease, the Hangover, Godzilla and Indiana Jones.

IGT is also renowned for the quality of its table games software and the fact that they manage to conjure up the same level of excitement as land-based variants. The types of games on offer include multi-hand blackjack, roulette, baccarat, Texas Hold ‘em, Caribbean stud poker and French roulette. The company is also a pioneer when it comes to online video poker. Today IGT offers at least nine unique poker variants to casinos.

The Beginnings of IGT

The company now known as IGT was originally founded in 1975 by William. S. Redd. It went public in 1981, and it bought Electronic Data Technologies during 1984.

IGT went on to pioneer a range of products and casino concepts, such as S-Slot, Player’s Edge poker machines and Megabucks slots. The latter offered players an opportunity to win jackpots of no less than $1 million.

It started producing themed slots in 1989 and went on to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The company also started IGT Europe in order to cater for its content INTAL European clients, and between 1993 and 1994 it experienced a boom in gaming machine production with figures rising from 69,000 a year to 95,000. This growth was helped by the legalisation of riverboat gaming in the US.

The Theme of the Monkey Prince

The theme of the game is broadly based on Chinese folk tales, in a similar vein to Yggdrasil Gaming’s Legend of the Monkey King and Sun Wukong, made by Playtech.

The central character in these three games is the Monkey King, or Sun Wukong, who is the main character in a series of Chinese legends which go back to the time of the Song dynasty.

He is the central character in Journey to the West, a Chinese classical novel from the sixteenth century, but Sun Wukong is also found in many other adaptations and stories.

In Journey to the West, he is, fairly obviously, a monkey, but he is said to have been born out of a stone. He goes on to gain supernatural powers as a result of Taoist practices. He rebels against heaven and is imprisoned by the Buddha beneath a mountain, but he goes on to accompany Tang Sanzang, a monk, on a journey to the West in a bid to retrieve some Buddhist sutras.

It is said that the Monkey King has immense strength and can lift a staff weighing 17,550 lb with ease. Sun Wukong is also believed to be extremely fast and can somersault and travel a massive 13,468 miles in a single manoeuvre.

If that were not enough superpowers, he can transform into different objects and animals, he can defeat heaven’s best warriors and each one of his hairs is magic and can transform into a clone of himself or into objects, weapons or animals.

He knows spells which can part water, protect against demons, command wind and freeze gods, demons and humans, making him a real force to be reckoned with if the legends are to be believed.

It is said that the origin of Sun Wukong can be found within White Monkey legends, which originated in the Chu kingdom of China between 700 and 223 BC. These legends showed reverence to gibbons, especially white ones.

Sun Wukong was originally a Taoist deity or immortal, but then he became incorporated into legends within Buddhism. Some scholars also believe he is influenced by a mixture of folk tales of China and Hanuman, a Hindu deity from the Ramayana.

Hanuman and the Monkey Prince

Hanuman and Sun Wukong are inextricably linked, not least because some scholars believe that Hanuman was the inspiration for Journey to the West, or Xiyouji as it is also known.

Hanuman is said to be a devotee of the renowned Lord Rama and is at the heart of the Ramayana of Southeast Asia and Indian subcontinent. The Ramayana is an Indian poem which relates the story of the struggle faced by prince Rama as he attempts to rescue wife Sita, who is in the clutches of demon king Ravana. It makes up the Hundu Itihasa with the Mahabharata.

Hanuman is also mentioned in other texts, including the Mahabharata, some Jain and various Puranas. He is said to be the son of Kesari and Anjana but also of wind god Vayu, who is said to have played an important role in Hanuman’s birth. It is unclear when Hinduist theology first adopted Hanuman.
