Introduction

Usually, when an online slot developer creates a sequel for a popular game, there’s a couple of years between the original game and the follow-up. There was one year between Money Train and Money Train 2 and three between Reactoonz and Reactoonz 2.

So, it’s pretty unusual for ELK to have Nitropolis 2 scheduled for release just five months after the original. Nitropolis was a smash hit of a slot, though, which makes it understandable that ELK would want to give players more of the same kooky, dystopian action so soon.

Theme and Graphics

Nitropolis 2 picks up where the previous game left off, with animal gangs fighting for control over a dystopian wasteland. It seems that one gang lost out, as the Rogue Rats from the original Nitropolis slot have been replaced with Pest Control.

Still, the game has the same gritty feel to it with an edgy soundtrack and comic book-style graphics. As usual, it’s a great look and really gives players a fun experience that you won’t get from many other games.

Nitropolis 2 RTP and Variance

The RTP (return to player) of Nitropolis is 95%. This is quite a bit lower than the original game, which clocked in a 96.1%. It’s pretty unusual for ELK games to have RTPs lower than 96% so it’s a bit disappointing.

How to Win

Nitropolis 2 begins with 4096 winning ways. To hit wins, players just need to land three or more matching symbols on adjacent reels. The four animal symbols pay out the most, followed by the gang posters while the poker ranks are the lowest-paying symbols.

Nitro Reels

Nitro Reels return in Nitropolis 2. These are symbol positions that contain a group of symbols rather than a single symbol. Between 4 and 12 symbol can be grouped together in a Nitro Reel, which expands your overall number of winning ways.

Whenever a win occurs, you’ll be granted a respin. All of the single symbols and Nitro Reels that formed the win will spin again to give you another chance to iwn.

Feature Reel

The Feature Reel is a new addition to Nitropolis 2. Above the main game is row of symbols that can display features that will apply to the reel below:

• All Match: all symbols in a Nitro Reel will match one symbol that is displayed on the reel to the left
• All Premium: all symbols in the Nitro Reel will only be high-paying symbols
• All Wild: all symbols in the Nitro Reel will be wilds
• Nitro Upgrade: more symbols are added to the Nitro Reel group
• Nitro Wild: Nitro Reel in the same column
• Pay Both Ways: winning combinations can be made from left-to-right as well as from right-to-left
• Respin: bonus symbols and Nitro Reels are locked in place and one respin is awarded

Free Spins

If you land 3 or more scatters, you’ll trigger the free spins bonus. The number of scatters that trigger the round will determine how many free spins you’ll earn:

• 3 scatters for 10 free spins
• 4 scatters for 15 free spins
• 5 scatters for 20 free spins
• 6 scatters for 25 free spins

In the free spins round, you can trigger all of the above features – btu there is one main difference. Now, when Nitro Reels land, they will remain in place for the rest of the bonus.

Nitropolis 2 Review

The original Nitropolis was definitely one of our favourite releases of 2020, so we’re thrilled that ELK Studios has decided to launch a sequel. It’s a great follow-up, too, as it has the same theme and premise as the original but adds some new features to keep things feeling fresh.

The Feature Reel is a great addition, and it adds a bit more action to the base game. However, it’s perks don’t often produce wins. Still, the Nitro Reels and winning respins keep things moving along nicely.

Overall, fans of the first Nitropolis will want to give this slot a spin – but, there really isn’t loads more on offer here. Even with the Feature Reel, Nitropolis 2 feels a lot like the original game. That’s not a bad thing, though, as it’s a great game in its own right.
