Theme and Graphics

Cluster Slide from ELK Studios has a very cool space theme. Strangely shaped mountains and huge, bright planets surround the reels, and there’s a very quirky soundtrack playing in the background. How to Win

As a cluster-based slot, wins are made by landing five or more matching symbols in a group. Cascades occur, but they’re not your everyday tumble, as the reels are on a slant which causes the symbols to slide in from the right of the screen and towards the left side of the reels. It’s a pretty cool mechanic and, while it’s not totally different to normal cascades, it’s something different and fun.

Generator and Feature Wilds

When you hit wins with wilds, you’ll charge the Generator. Once the meter is fully charged, it will add special Feature Wilds to the reels. They are:

• Big: expands a random symbol into a 2x2 wild
• Random: replaces 2 to 4 symbols with wilds
• Multiplier: increases the game’s multiplier by 1x
• Upgrading: upgrades one type of symbol into a higher-paying symbol
• Removing: removes all instances of one type of symbol from the reels

Multipliers

If you generate all five Feature Wilds on a spin, then a 5x multiplier will be triggered. It will be applied to all subsequent wins.

Free Spins

In Cluster Slide, the free spins bonus is called Wild Drops and it is triggered by landing three bonus symbols on the reels. You only get 3 free spins but something special happens on each of them:

• First Drop: random wilds are added to the reels
• Second Drop: 2x2 wild symbols are activated in random locations
• Third Drop: one 3x3 wild symbol is added to the game

Getting just three free spins doesn’t really sound like a great bonus, but there’s actually lots going on in this round that can make way for decent wins. Starting with wilds on each spin makes for a great jumping-off point for Feature Wilds to be triggered and the multiplier to be increased.

Leave it to ELK Studios to create something totally crazy and out-there in terms of both design and gameplay. This studio usually comes up with some pretty unique concepts, so we’re always surprised when ELK pulls yet another quirky slot out of the bag.

The gravity mechanic in games like Cygnus and Bompers is something you don’t get in slots from any other developers and themes like Miss Wildfire and CHI are totally unique in the slots world. So, Cluster Slide fits right in with this collection.

As a medium/high variance slot, Cluster Slide provides players with more frequent wins than you would expect from a game with a 10,000x top prize. Even when there are lulls in activity, the game has a ton of features that make it seem more interesting. The game definitely holds our attention and makes for a fun gaming experience.

The base game bonuses are great, and it’s nice that there is such a wide range of theme. Extra wilds, transforming symbols and symbol removal work together to create a fun collection of features and, when they’re all triggered on the same spin, it can make for some fantastic gameplay.
