  • Impressive 50,000x top win
  • Fun free spins bonus
  • Quite dated design
  • Modifiers aren't very effective

Realm of Legends is a cluster-based online slot from Blueprint Gaming. Features include free spins, reel modifiers and transforming symbols. The RTP of this medium variance slot is 96.46% and its top prize is worth 50,000x.

Realm of Legends is, surprisingly, powered by Blueprint Gaming. We don’t often see slots from this developer featuring cluster pays, so it’s nice to play something a little bit different from them. The game offers a very impressive top prize of 50,000x and there are some interesting features available, including free spins, symbol upgrades and extra wilds.

Theme and Graphics

In Realm of Legends, there is a Greek mythology-inspired theme. The game’s high-paying symbols are based on different mythological creatures like Medusa and the Minotaur with bonus features that are related to each of them.

The look of the game is a little bit basic, though. The graphics could be a bit sharper – especially the picture symbols which could use more detail. It actually looks like a much older game rather than a 2020 release.

How to Play

It’s easy to get playing Realm of Legends:

  1. Once the game loads, click on the menu button under the spin button to review the paytable.
  2. Click on the money symbol to adjust your wager. You can bet between .10 coins and 10 coins per spin.
  3. Take a look at the game’s autoplay settings.
  4. Hit the spin button and enjoy!

Realm of Legends RTP and Variance

The RTP (return to player) of Realm of Legends is 96.46%. It’s also a medium volatility slot – so, the top prize of 50,000x is very impressive.

How to Win

Realm of Legends takes place on a 7x7 grid, and winning combinations are made by landing five or more matching symbols in a group. The most generous symbols on the game are the picture symbols – with the cyclops paying out a prize of 1,000x for a combination with 25 symbols or more.

Game Modifiers

If you’re a fan of games like Reactoonz, you’ll recognize the bonus meter mechanic on the left side of the reels. To fill the meter, you have to land winning symbols and collect them. Once you’ve collected a certain number of symbols, a modifier will be applied to the reels:

  • 20 symbols trigger the Medusa bonus where all symbols are removed except for the Medusa symbol
  • 40 symbols trigger the Minotaur bonus where extra wilds are added to the reels
  • 60 symbols trigger the Fire Sprite bonus where all low paying symbols are destroyed
  • 80 symbols trigger the Cyclops bonus where one high-paying symbol is upgraded into the cyclops

Free Spins

Should you land five scatter symbols (more than your usual 3 scatters), you’ll trigger the free spins round. You’ll get 7 free spins where you require half the number of symbols to trigger the reel modifiers. So, you should be able to land the modifiers a lot more often in the bonus game.

It’s also possible to retrigger this bonus. If you land five more scatters, you’ll get 7 more free spins.

Realm of Legends Slot Review

Blueprint Gaming tends to stick to making two types of slots: Megaways and feature-rich games like Mars Attacks and The Goonies. So, Realm of Legends, as a cluster pays game with a bonus meter is very out of left-field. The only other similar game from Blueprint is Dragon Fall. So, this game really stands out in Blueprint’s collection.

The main downside of the game is that the modifiers wasn’t particularly impressive. The Medusa and Cyclops features don’t really offer all that much winning potential, so we think Blueprint could have been a bit more generous in how it doled out the modifiers.

This is rectified during the free spins rounds because it takes a lot less to trigger the modifiers. So, you can look forward to triggering a few of them at once which makes them more worth it.

As Blueprint’s second cluster-based slot, Realm of Legends is a good effort. However, you can tell that the company isn’t super experienced in developing this  type of game. So, we’re looking forward to future cluster slots from Blueprint.
